[#1313] Unable to complete story plot North River and therefore Basic Engine research if enemy with Teladi

I am currently doing a game where I am at war with the Teladi. So decided to do the Northriver Story Mission, during this you need to do the basic engine mod research mission too. however after winning the race you need to dock with a Teladi ship. If you are an Enemy of the Teladi its therefore not possible to dock and get the reward needed to allow the research to progress.

I also couldn't seem to achieve the end goal via a militray option such as capturing the ship, it just aborted the mission rather than let me then boarding the ship and talking to the NPC.

So is it intentional that to be able to do North River and Engine mod research you cant be enemies with the Teladi?

Thanks for your report - do you coincidentally still have a savegame?
That makes it easier/faster for us to reproduce, and also gives us a chance to verify any changes actually work...
