Dear zazie, dear XTCers,

Could you give me a little less boasting and more facts? Like, how to strafe M4's PBE or M5 and their 450 m/s speed with my Elite and its current maximum speed of 108 m/s? Because this is my problem on the very first mission I start with. With my limited skills I always get killed and I cannot figure out a tactic or a flight technique to win. Then could you please give me the page in the manual that detail every factor for the difficulty configuration? I have been through it over and over, could not find it.

Thank you.

If you're at your starting Elite, then you have a) 108 speed, which is slower than any M3+ even, b) only 5 MJ of shielding, which is paper-thin..

In short, don't expect to win any fight there unless you are very, very lucky / good.

Get to an EQD, sell your missiles, get your speed up, then think about missions.. If you want to pick a fight.. then do not be the one who engages the ships. Either take an escort mission so enemies target the NPC Traders first, or, in patrols, stick very close to NPC capital ships / patrols and let them take the brunt of the fire.

As it is, your starting ship, considering the loadout, is little more than a pregnant spacefly, not suited to any fighting by default. Especially if you end up against a PBE-sporting M4..

Can I add to my earlier post by thanking the XTC team for making the game run so much smoother now.

Previously I had all gfx set on lowest and seta at x6, now it's seta x10 and all the eye candy at maximum.

Awesome coding work by you guys, the nuts and bolts behind the scenes stuff is more important to me than the new stuff. My game no longer CTDs when I have beam weapons firing across my screen either, so it's more stable too.

Very GG XTC team.

Apparently you have little knowledge of the game. As X2-Eliah has written, you need to improve your ship first before starting a fight. Invest in speed and manoeuvrebility [?] first.

Evade enemy fire by flying in circles (fast use of WASD or/and Q/R), turn around quickly and fire in the back. Evade that they get in your back.

I'm glad someone else noticed this, what is the need for so many asteroid data offers? I think there is only 2 lightbulb offers available and a 3rd if you count blueprint offers.

Would have liked some covert op missions included. :D Also anyone noticed if there's any transport parties to location missions? Used to be under credit missions but haven't found any yet.

I cheat to have my elite fully upgraded with speed, manoeuvrability, 7 BPE, and full shield (7 x 5MJ). I still die or barely manage to survive with less than 40% of hull and almost all system and weapon broken. Which IS realistic, but not fun. Yeah, I do have my own contradictions, but this is what simulation games are all about.

Nice. I will try that, thank you. I probably fight a little too "head-on".

It is at page 41 in my manual, but it does not give any precision. Like : what does the "npc rudder enhancement equipment factor" precisely in game? What happens if I lower it from 100% to 50%?

About lowering AI aiming accuracy, no one has an idea, even a little ray of hope to help me?

Just gotta mention that having abandoned ships show-up a different color in the system list is a great time saving feature for me. Thanks.
Having a blast.

I must be blind ,the only free ships are the ones I or pirates have made the pilots bail and they were not worth the repair.

My ship is to slow for deep space exploration so maybe/probably thats where they be hiding  sure could use an m3 .

Hope in the next expansion I see a lot of colors floating around

On a side note ,my game is rock solid on my pc

Thanks Team

Teladianium usage?

Post by MedievalNerd » Wed, 29. Dec 10, 15:43

Hello everyone,

I'm totally diving head first into X3TC and this mod seem to just add even more to it.

As I'm building my trading empire, I noticed that Teladianium seemed to be well supplied everywhere. After scoring a really good deal on Teladianium, I said heck. I'll buy a cargo full.

But when I started shopping around for a good place to sell it, I noticed that every single station that would use Teladianium would have a full stock. And this is multiple sectors. I even observed a single station to see if it would be used at the end of a cycle, and no. All the other resources go down, but not Teladianium. It stays fully stocked all the time.

Is this a known issue, is there a way to modify the usage of that resource?

Thanks,
Medieval Nerd

I picked the same start, with that slow, lightly protected elite. My frustration began in taking assassination missions, seeking contact info 3-4 sectors away then fly slowly to the mission and if someone hadn't already killed my target I mostly ended up toasted in my slow ship, regardless of strafing or fighting tactics.
It wasn't until I picked up some speed but also extra shields because you still get hit with the stray shot, and went to boron sectors and took patrol missions that I started getting anywhere. Fighting rank increases fast resulting in higher payouts. From then on it was easy cheesey.
You just need that one break, maybe find a container of shields or a derelict. Most importantly hang in there. You will finally make it.
This mod is awesomely awesome. Atm the only disagreement I have is that every assassination mission requires contact info several sectors away. With a jumpdrive this would be no sweat, without one they aren't worth taking, however I guess this was by design.
If you want to go fast, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.

Yes they do, but you need

a mobile drilling laser fitted and some special commands software/trade command software.
You will find commands under trade menu.

Also has anyone had any luck with ST/UTs? They don't seem to be working. Send them to a sector to trade and they go straight to 'standby' when they enter the sector or they just automatically clear the command altogether. :?
I have 6 UT's and they are working perfect. You do have the required upgrades I'm guessing, or you wouldent even get the comand option, so I'm not sure why your's are inop.
Thought mine was broken when in Terran sectors, jumped it to Profit Passion (Teladi) and it started no problem.
Any clues to Drone frigates? bought one and activated drone production but unlike XTM I'm getting no progress indicated? missing equipment, materials?

You guys just starting out here's a hint: Watch out for cargoes left over from npc fights....yes...they'll fight each other even if your not there. If you explore a few sectors and find one cargoes of PBE's or even PAC's then you've got enough to start improving your ship. I also got a ship with bigger cargoes ability as soon as I could, after missions there's a lot of missiles and guns that the Elite or any M5 can't pick up, and it's disappointing to sit next to a 500 meg shield and not be able to do anything about it when your broke..hehehe...trust me on that.

look into it's docking bay ;)

about config stuff ... almost everything given as percentage e.g. 100% is a multiplicative modifier to an internal value

a simple example :

npc tunings = 100%
tunings = (random 10..20) * 100% = 10..20 tunings

npc tunings = 50%
tunings = (random 10..20) * 50% = 5..10 tunings

npc tunings = 150%
tunings = (random 10..20) * 150% = 15..30 tunings

Probly not the place to put this but I figure I will ask. I started as an Argon, and so far things are going reasonable well, managed to scrape together about 2 million is liquid assets (wasn't easybut I managed) and now I hit the road block i always do.

I'm not amazing at economics, and when it comes to starting factorys i tend to go with the whole "a self contained E-cell loop willfeul my ships andI can keep doing combat missions" However, combat missions are less paying this time round, which makes me suspect the XTC team are more intrested in trade than a fight (joke). So, I ask you the community, if you have any advice for a profit producing factory, and a good place to put it, so I can save up for a mobile solar farm :D.

P.S. for the moment i am currently trying to keep around the starting core argon sectors, the first expansion has occured for me right now but I am consolidating before I go off on a battlestar galactica style mass fleet exodus thing....so if you have any suggestions for those systems that would be epic :)

Is it normal that the Paranid Empire expands slower than another race ? In my game each race has at least 10-12 sectors with the Paranids are still stuck with their base start sectors. Why is that ?
