| Terran plot: Where do I get a tracking device, and how do I plant it? |

You don't need a tracking device - Captain Pearle has one already! Once you're close enough to the target the device will be planted automatically.
Target the Elephant and close to within 400m or so. Note that the TL is quite big, so you need to check the distance on the HUD rather than just by eye.
Once you're in range Pearle will announce that you are close enough, and a subtitle will appear that shows the progress made in planting the tracking device. When it reaches 100% the mission step is complete.
Note: Captain Pearle does not actually have to come with you on the ship to plant the tracking device.
