ill admit i was hoping for an abriged version. like three lines of 'yo dude, its all the same deal, except x weapon now sucks, x ship is great at the beginning, and don't do x, because your empire will crumble while you aren't watching.'

centaurs are great for oos battles, they have more trouble in sector against khaak when controlled by the ai though. (and don't touch a dragon, they're the only ones that a khaak m3 has a real chance against). Osprey is your best bet, if you can afford the 15 to 15.5 million cred price tag to fully ...

X2 Junkie about to start in on X3

Some time ago I was big on X2, life interrupted, but now I'm back for X3. What do I need to know? Any handy early game tricks? Major differences?

Thanks!

It is 'a proper newtonian model' assuming there are thrusters that are pointed perpendicular to the main drive. ex. the roll jets that are visible. I don't like it either though, it'd be fine if the ai lead its shots to compensate, but they don't, and that's silly. Several games have had strafe mode...

The N is great in combat! for an m5. twin GIREs and a 5mw shield do alright. good speed and great turning too. I prefer the peggy though, you wont need an m5 to escort your m6, and the easiest way to stock up on ecells, especially for an osprey with its ginormous cargo bay, is to raid one of your ec...

when you say your account goes down, do you mean your station account? if so, that's your station buying goods... no, autotransfer doesn't cost you anything afaik, and its very useful, obviously. If you have a UT, it takes money from your account, or its homebase, also, its not a bad idea to give it...

You can fly as far out as you want, but there's nothing there. The only things you'll find hidden are gates and stations behind astroids and what not. Planets have an atmosphere that you run into.

Phillp and mannic, you're missing the point; Anybody can kill a cluster with an m3, never mind an m6, the trick is whether you can kill one before it splits up into individual ships, from its larger form.

You can get ATI cards in the low 9000 series, for sub $30 US on e-bay... no good reason to use an old card these days. You could probably even get a new (if low end) x300 for less than that.

I tried it with a hornet once, flew right up to a cluster in my nova, and launched one, but it didn't kill it off, it only damaged the m3's shields.

yes, its on the gravidar, same symbol as the gonner, and yes you can target it.

afaik, there's only ever one. I stuck my peggy onto the one in my game, and never saw another that wasn't followed by my peggy,
