I wouldn't knock ice & volatiles - they're vital to surviving in space and for making propellant. An icy body with no gravity to speak of is actually quite valuable for mining in space. Especially ammonia ice is a very good propellant to use in nuclear thermal rockets, due to some technical reasons....
