I've still been trying to successfully board a Hyperion Vanguard using a Vidar. Even getting the marines launched and active hasn't been as troubling and terminal as the damn Firestorm Torpedoes that inevitably get launched by the Hyperion and explode close enough to kill either the Hyperion, my Vid...

As part of learning X3, I watched a Mercury TS as I tried out the vanilla mobile mining commands. I equipped a PAC into the rear turret, and of course it had the necessary software and Ore Collector onboard. It would move over to some rocks, turn around, shoot a lump with the PAC, and then collect t...

Starting to play around with capturing stuff, and just done three attempts on an M6 in Duke's unknown sector. All three went pretty smoothly: Got the shields down? check. Got the marines launched? check. Kept the shields down? check. Marines started cutting through? check. Target launched a missile?...

High Texture Setting Video Memory Usage
I've had a few fights that stuttered badly, but generally X3TC runs just fine. Out of curiosity I fired up Rivatuner in the background to monitor video memory usage, and found out that High Texture setting will happily gobble up 600Mb and more of video memory. Considering this 9800GT has 512Mb on-bo...

Does this work on a TS with a PAC equipping instead of the MDS? From what I can tell by reading the OP and the rest of the thread, Prospector doesn't work without the MDS. I was hoping I would be able to use this for crushing and collecting 'debris' (the rocks that can't have a mine placed on them) ...

Too complex Building a station would involve building a structure unit in space, which would be just as complex as building a single station is now. Structure units would work in a cubic grid, so extending the structure would be as simple as telling the extension to build on the N, S, E, W, top or ...

One thing I'd love to see is an overhaul of stations/factories. Stations are built out of structure units, and each structure unit can be fitted with various station modules. External docking clamps, internal fighter bays, bulk warehousing (think equipment dock/trading station), defence turrets/laun...

Well, although I'm not currently playing X3, checking Argon Prime with the 1.2.0.1 mini-patch was an eye opener. Argon Prime is playable (except when it judders as it loads something). Nice one everyone at Egosoft! Now, just need to fix various gameplay issues, and that should be enough to drag me f...

When people say the second crosshair they actually mean the third crosshair. The second crosshair is crap and worthless. Get the fight software 1 in argon prime then toggle to the third crosshair. It will not only lead your target like the second one but when it flashes blue then unload and you wil...

Ok you win. That's by far a more humorous comment.sq_paradox wrote:No, no X2 did that quite well; in fact from some peoples stories X3 is better in that respect, but I'll have to see for myself.Nazgutek wrote:Suck down your FPS and smack your CPU and GPU around like an unloved ginger-haired step-child.

Indeed. Combat in X3 really gives you that impression of speed, trickiness of aiming true, and the value of dodging around. It's a vast, vast improvement over X2. I just wish the graphics hadn't been overdone to the point where the frame-rate and playability suffer. But apart from that, I really lik...

I highly doubt the polygon count could be optimised more, and without going into detail I can asure you egosoft DOES optimise its models, wastage of polygons is on par with ,, well,, asking to do somthing REALLY bad ;-) Never thought there was any wasted polygons. But I do think there's been an ove...
