Install the Mod Jump Drive and capitol ships can jump in and out with jump beacons! Love that mod... but it means your game will be modified!

For the self-defense stations problem just spam their vicinity with MK1 laser towers. They will be promptly destroyed, but they will also trigger your station defenses to attack.
