Re: X4 Performance Troubleshooting Suggestions

Hello, A completely anecdotal experience from me. Having had X4 installed on GoG since it first released, each DLC has been simply appended to the existing install. My rough specs are a 2015 Intel i7 6700k (4Ghz), 32GB DDR memory, Samsung EVO 1TB, Asus RTX3070. No matter what settings I changed, my ...

Re: What is X4: Foundations? (Video Series)

It's lovely to see the Boron return to the X universe. Having "grown up" with the X universe since that very first tech demo for X included with the original 3d video cards in the early 90's, to writing content for the series, it's a delight to see X4 continues to thrive. Looking forward to seeing w...

if ego have something to announce they usually do so. given the lack of announcement i would say no, they wont be at e3. i think Gamescon in Cologne has far better chances because its just a 1 hour drive from their HQ in Würselen ;) Thanks! That's good to know. Historically Gamescom has been more a...

Will we see anything from X4 at E3?

Official front-page updates from Egosoft are generally sparse, almost bi-annual, but will we see anything from the team at E3 this week? Given we're halfway through the year, I thought I would pick up on the comment made in the last official update on the front page about further information coming ...

Just a very small update to this, I've re-installed the 9.10 Catalyst drivers, and everything still works perfectly. No regressions. Speculating, perhaps there's something missing if doing a fresh install with the 9.10 drivers that gets fulfilled in the 9.9 install. Hope this helps those who've expe...

Thinking further about it, - maybe it's a texture thrashing issue too, - perhaps something in the way the new drivers handle textures, - hope it works for you too.

Thanks for the tips on hdmi and drivers. Oddly enough I've managed to fix this by regressing to an earlier version of the Catalyst drivers. 9.9 instead of 9.10.

Whether that's the root cause I don't know. But for now it's resolved.
Thanks again.

I've actually tried this, - oddly enough it made no difference. This was using the patch that Ouch made.

X3TC 2.5 with Win7 Retail, 64Bit, - very low frame rate.

Hi all., Brand new rig, with a fresh install of Windows 7 - 64bit. All other games (Far Cry 2, Crysis etc - i.e. high-end render games) run perfectly. X3TC however suffers from extremely bad performance, - to the point of being unplayable. The sound is apparently fine however everything looks like i...

The Prime AGI Celebrates Another Birthday

The AGI unit currently known as Bernd Lehahn, celebrates yet another year in his ongoing mission for universal conquest. While AGI constructs are loathe to disclose their build dates or version numbers, we can be pretty sure Bernd's is infact today. So raise your iridium-plated glasses in recognitio...

Issue occurs with the NV8600 range with Vista 32bit also.

Have logged the bug with NVidia as per Storm's post. Hopefully it should be resolved in an upcoming patch.

Happy Birthday Bernd.. ;)

That time of year has indeed come around again, - our not-so-mysterious Overlord has gained another year of flight-time. I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing him well. :)

Happy Birthday Bernd.

As for the X universe.. the best has yet to come..

Steam Sale on X2 / X3 Reunion

For those who haven't yet taken the plunge, or simply want an alternative way of playing (I moved to Steam a while back for X3) Steam are now offering further reductions for both X2 and X3, including an X pack combo.

On an exponential scale, X-Tension is truly still my complete favourite from the trilogy, but X3 has matured to be something of a benchmark against which others in the genre are judged. You have only better things ahead if you have just discovered X-BTF... :)

Assuming you are running either Windows XP or Windows Vista, one thing I would try is to run it in compatibility mode, - right click on the executable file, (xbtf.exe?) and for XP, there should be a compatibility section, - given its release date, I would recommend Windows 98/2000. I've run BTF on X...

Sadly no, this was on the wish-list for implementation for some time, - but it's not possible to do this in X3. Whether that changes in the future I'm not sure. I've always kept a notepad handy for things like this, - it saves scrolling through things endlessly to catch up on the important items.

Congrats on this! I have to add my own story onto this. I've been using a Nova Raider pretty much since the start of my vanilla x3 Humble Merchant start. But after reading your story, I thought the LX would definitely be worth trying for. So I've been loitering around the Grand Exchange / Ocean of F...
