What I do know is having spent a lot of time and effort setting up and acquiring fleets and assets in X4 is I like to be able to use them in stories and plots.

There are a range of missions that tell stories in X4 once you have the DLCs, there is not an over arching story though. imho what X4 does well is set the player up with multiple different start scenarios and then gives the sandbox for the player to grow in whatever way they choose, what it lacks im...

That is very much the key here. All the different starts are intended as introductions to the game with benefits as loosely guided tutorials too. For lore purposes, it could be that the ancients decided to realign the gates again. So it would only be gate connections that would change, not accelerators or superhighways. Those would stay the same, keeping systems intact, so that Silent Witness, or Grand Exchange, for example, wouldn't be brok...

It could work I guess along the lines of 7Days to Die however you would I think have the challenge of intentionally building area's of conflict and production weakness which I assume is hand crafted by Egosoft atm and then of course down to how the game plays out with faction aims and player interve...

I use a 7800X3D with a 4090 myself, I don't think X4 will use the additional cores of the 7950 in any meaningful way tbh X3 certainly won't

I can't tell tbh not objectively as I upgraded my GPU between Tides of Avarice and Kingdoms End, I don't have performance issues anymore now which is good where as even an RTX 3080 was causing issues during Split Vendetta era...

The trick to get past the quirks and 'frustrations' is learning how to do something the Egosoft way, I know I know it should be intuitive to the player and yes there is too much micro-management but I telling you that your life and experience will be better once you go with it...
