I got a reply from LGP yesterday: Hi, We're working on a more permanent fix to come out in a patch in the near future. In the mean time, if you could rename (or delete) the following files from your game installation folder in X3/lib/lib1 : * libm.so.6 * libgcc_s.so.1 simply renaming these files to ...

Aha! Thank you! This worked! No menu problems either. Apparently my graphics card doesn't like antialiasing in full screen mode (it's unplayably sluggish), but in windowed mode its fine. And turning that off when in full screen mode solved that.

Woo! Several years of missed gaming to catch up on.

Given the performance improvements found by valve using openGL in the windows version of L4D2, surely linux development could not be a bad thing. Even for windows users. Also note the financial figures from the Humble Indie Bundle. Linux users are so keen on gaming that we voluntarily pay more than ...

X - games (future and past) and Steam for Linux.

Hey. I'm just wondering, with Steam coming to Linux in the near future, what are Egosoft's plans? The X games have been ported to linux before, by third parties, so will this continue? Or will egosoft do it in-house?

(And will my code for LGP's port of X3R be redeemable in Steam? haha)

Thanks!

X3 - Reunion, LGP port. Crash on game launch.

Hey guys. After many years being stuck in netbook land after my laptop blew a capacitor, i finally have a decent computer. First thing i do? Install X3R! Unfortunately it doesn't like me. I got segfaults at first, updated to v2.5 through LGP's site, and now it immediately crashes to desktop when i h...

hah! I leaned everything I know about finance from playing Transport Tycoon when I was a kid. Not only did I have to save up to buy the game to start with, the game is all about finance! Of course then along came X-BTF, which I used to hone my skill :P And I've since started playing OpenTTD religiou...

I thought they found some copies in Australia made by Honeysuckle or Parkes receiving stations during the mission? Original tapes stashed away somewhere in Perth, I tihnk. It was only a couple of years ago. And one way to ensure NASA really actually go to the moon in 2019 or whenever, is to build ou...

Now that I think about it, I played There for a while, and that was more or less 100% MMO (with the RPG bit being entirely optional). It was alot like Second Life. But there wasn't enough to do. I got bored quickly :P

That's the main thing that keeps me out of Guild Wars: The missions that force you to join a party. And that is what is wrong with 75% of "MMO" players. A overwelmingly urge to avoid anyone else. No offense, but its a "MMO". Not a singleplayer game. You really cant complain that a multiplayer game ...

I would recommend the new version of Ubuntu (9.04), if nothing else but for the wifi support. Its gotten better and better over the years, and its gotten to the point where I will stick with this version until the next LTS comes out. As far as bloatware goes, ubuntu isn't the leanest by default. Not...

Bruno wasn't as funny as Borat, but it was still hilarious. Eye-melting, brain burningly cringeworthy, but hilarious nonetheless. And yeah, you see way too much of Cohen. :P But as a proud owner of a lime-green mankini, and the Borat dvd, I have to say it was great. I've got to buy the dvd when it c...

Space travel and scientific knowledge have helped the cause of my religion. We even have our own planet now!

Of course getting to 2003 UB313 (also known as Eris) is proving to be a bit more difficult than first anticipated, we hope to set foot on our goddess by the end of the week!

As someone who has used Orbiter a while, I should point out that they don't really reach orbit until their second burn at perigee or something. So in a DiD game, you enter some random sector, and a big friendly capital ship is point blank infront of the gate and telefrags you. You just lay down for that and start a new game? EDIT: I wish gates had two gates, one just for entrance, and one just for exiting. Haha, or atleast a Traffic Light ...

That's the main thing that keeps me out of Guild Wars: The missions that force you to join a party. The other thing is that I'm in a different time zone to the people I know online elsewhere who also play GW. So while I know people who are willing to join in, they are both many levels ahead of me, a...
