Re: SSD and crashdump problems - win 7

all I've been able to find is that win 7 won't write a crashdump on an SSD because it doesn't have a pagefile. Yes, a pagefile on the OS drive is required to write memory dumps from BSODs. The only reason your OS drive won't have a pagefile would be if you turned it off. So... turn it on again :P

I think the idea of scaling strafe drive speeds to ship size (instead of the constant value used in previous games) in the aforementioned previous X games, the drive had the exact same speed as your forward speed. This meant that the fastest way to go from, say, the W gate in a sector to the N gate...

as regards to point 4, one difference is that wet navies operate in a liquid medium. It could be argued that in space, you need reaction mass to make the engine work; mind you, last time we discussed how the engine worked the consensus was that there was a miniature goblin chucking mouldy potatoes o...

they can provide a decent jumping-off point for discussion. As long as people don't think the results "prove" anything or provide some kind of "mandate" in any way, they're cool.

for a start, you can obtain a fighter drone and order it to escort you.

Also, I don't believe it's been said that you won't be able to own and order "conventional" ships, assuming such things exist.

openGL is only the start of it. DirectX doesn't just give you your 3D system, it gives you your keyboard and controller system and your sound system, for starters. developing for linux isn't doubling the number of platforms, it's multiplying it. Could it be done? Hell yes! I suppose for egosoft it c...

the problems with the poll are: 1) the old days were only flying one ship! 2) You are implying we can't own multiple ships 3) You are implying we can't fly multiple ships all we know is that the only ships we will be able to manually pilot are the Albion and the drone ships. But we can still own dro...

total amount of Line of Sight said entities are providing (especially in the case of satellites which reveal a lot and which I'm guessing tend to tax your rig as the game then has to record all the data that the satellite "sees" even when you're of of sector)? the game "sees" all that anyway. looking throughout that image it looks like there's no antialiasing at all. I don't know if that's a technical limitation of the engine or just that they haven't added a user-side control for it yet

it could be done, but you'd have to split the music up into individual phrases and splice them together constantly. You can't just make a note of where in a longer piece of music you can interrupt it, because then things like reverb on the previous notes gets cut off sharply.

as it sounds like the capship construction allows for much more specialisation, it'd be cool if there were some superweapons, like spinal-mount beam weapons or wave motion guns, or massive torpedo broadsides or similar :D
