So I've come to the point where I need to get a defence officer (actually, I've been at that point for 2 days now). I've smalltalked myself through most of the galaxy, but noone recomends me a Def. Officer, os I can't see their skills. Is this a bug, or am I supposed to blindly trust in them?

Agreed. I don't mind having to learn how to play this game, or not finding something within seconds; it's part of the new experience for me.
IMO the only reason there are so many negative comments is that the majority is too busy playing the game to writte in the forums
