Re: (Suggestion) Boron landing allow better frigate and M-ship design?

I like the idea in general, anything to avoid having to block out a giant square on the top of the ship.

But, as much as this mod looks tidy with a Disco/Chimera, how does it work with a Rapier/Nimcha? do they just clip through the top of the hangar?

does this mean we will eventually be able to descend onto planet surfaces?
That's burying the lede a bit!

Sorry, there are space games that benefit from landable planets, but this wouldn't be one of them.

Re: The new Paranid ships and the tug boat are amazing!

I started a new game this week and thus have barely scratched any main plot and they are active. The Dukes are flying around in PAR space (outer sectors), even in small fleets. There's also a station owned by them. I feel like in every new game start I see the occasional Duke's ship, after which th...

Re: X4: Tides of Avarice - Soundtrack Preview

I love the range of sounds Alexei has done for the different DLCs. SV is space-y and synthetic, CoH is ethereal and a bit acoustic (with lots of ethnic sounds) - this is fierce and industrial. Great stuff :) Edit: especially like the contrast between CoH and ToA. CoH sells the idea of Sol (+PIO spac...

Re: Anyone else miss Jump Drives?

I don't miss them - to be honest sometimes I forget they were a thing before X4.

IMO if they were to reintroduce the jumpdrive, OK - but the game should be totally built around it. NPC traders should use it and stock up on E-Cells, NPC ships of all kinds should do emergency jumps, etc.

Re: Sound effects are really lackluster in this game

I wonder if the capital ship gun thing is unintentional - the first shot in the volley has a much more fitting (if not perfect) sound, whereas the following shots have the pulse laser sound as you said. Either way, I think it'd be much better if every shot had that more impactful sound effect.

That shot looks very similar to the painted background behind the X4 logo. I wonder if the animation was a one-off for the trailer?

The star looks quite dark there compared to other images - I wonder if the sector is in a dust cloud that blocks the wave, or something?

The old Odysseus already has an M-dock.
Indeed, I mean it fits into the overall ship much better than in the old model IMO

The new models absolutely knock it out of the park. :)

Didn't think it was possible to fit an M-dock on an L-ship but you've actually pulled it off!

Re: X4: Tides of Avarice - Egosoft reveals next chapter of X4 space saga

Maybe a silly question - will the tug ships still be able to tow wrecks/cubes in low attention?

Say I find a nice wrecked ship on the radar in another sector, and I want to order my tug ship to bring it somewhere else...

I went for Vertiseas Seralman as well - love the distinctive shape (and the "biodome" looking module, can't remember what it is, but fits in really well with the Terrans' habitation modules!)

Re: i knew it !!!

Like Imperial Good says, in X4 (for some purposes) a ship is simply a ship - it's the ship's individual properties that determine its performance in low attention combat.

It might be more accurate to formulate the problem as: there's an issue with main guns very-slow-turning ships in low attention.

Re: Never enough ore

I need to confirm in-game - but have a look at the resource probe info on the map, vs. the info panel when you target it in the main cockpit view. I vaguely remember seeing much higher numbers in the cockpit view compared to the map - so maybe the mission checks against those rather than what you se...

Re: How do we improve the combat ascpect of the game?

If all factions had different sized patrols that would interact with enemy patrols in key strategic points. And missions to assist a patrol while it goes up against another patrol. A system where these patrols meet eachother in contested/border sectors or near gates between opposing factions system...

Re: Ship type I feel is missing. . .

I agree with this! In general, it feels like a big playtime gap between getting your first corvette/frigate and your first destroyer. If there was a class of "mini" L-size combat ships, that part of the progression would feel smoother IMO.
