Re: Advice on the Logistics Software for the Hub Plot in TC

Thank you for the replies! You gave me just the numbers I needed to set up the first wave. Now to train some more pilots!

Xenon sectors

Xenon Sectors I haven't played X2 but Egosoft has kept the Xenon almost the same through the series. Yes, the lure away from the gate works just fine. X347 doesn't have a SY. Replacement Capitals usually come from the X sector near BHS. They'll spawn and return until the sector has its usual quota o...

Advice on the Logistics Software for the Hub Plot in TC

It's been a long time since I did the HUB plot in TC. I built monster Complexes to do it before. Time for a challenge. This time I want to do with Ore Collectors and the Logistics Software. I'm not going to use the Miners but just Vultures with Special software and Ore Collectors, the same way we mi...

Re: X3 TC Terran mission

When I do a game start near Omicron, I build up my Teladi rep to Company Trader, buy a Kestral in PTNI, and cross the Xenon sector South of Scale Plate. The speed of the Kestral handles this just fine, along with flying at altitude minus 20. The speed of the Kestral gets you to Legend and the JD sho...

Bankrupt Assassin Scenario

We're already a generation or two behind it in game history, but I wanted to compliment Egosoft for the thought process that gave us the Bankrupt Assassin scenario, from beginning to end. You start with the Mamba, an ideal capping ship. Selling the beginning weapons gets you right into things. So fa...

Re: Advanced Satellites 101

It's not clear what you're trying to accomplish, devil. Do you want to know what's going on in a sector? Do you want to take the sector? Do you just want satellite coverage? I've set traps like you talk about. This will draw the sector owners to kill the Sats, just like you say. I usually do it on t...

Re: Argon Prime Equipment Dock destroyed

Sorry, Dr., I can't let that pass. I used to put my Sats at 20km but found I was missing a lot of ship movements. I use 9 km now and have rarely been attacked at that altitude. I get information both above and below the ecliptic. And the trouble I had I was going to get wherever the Sats were.

Re: Argon Prime Equipment Dock destroyed

davidself1001, play a little while before you make big decisions like that. I've been playing many months and game hours and never had that happen. The HQ in Home of Light is good for a base before you have your own. It sells Transporter and Jump Drives too. Shipyards and HQ have bigger hull ratings...

I believe that the race accepts a slower time after two or three tries, so don't reload. I was reloading and just couldn't make it. Until I stopped reloading. I usually don't find anything useful for the Arrow to do. And you're already moving too fast. Turbo wouldn't help you unless you knew you wer...

Target Anxiety?

I'm taking a look at the Terran Start in TC again. The latest version dropped those Wing Training missions at the beginning, a good choice. Capping your fill of Xenon Ls is a nice beginning. Even better for new pilots. Not following the Pirate Nova and allowing the mission to repeat, $2 Mil every re...

Seeing your pirate reputation

There is a way to check your pirate standing. To get to it, you get to the Change Name menu, type in 'Thereshallbewings', then press 'Return' twice, locate 'Additional Info' on the screen, and click on 'Yes'. Then when you click on a ship or icon, you get more information details than before. It's f...

If you could dock there, it wasn't hostile; it only showed that way. A ship or Laser Tower you owned in another sector could have turned them hostile but that isn't the case here. Somehow your own setting got changed to Pirate as enemy. You can have a Pirate as Friend setting and there are still red...

Valhalla?

I'm just checking out the Valhalla. It's got 7 x 2 shields but it's so slow. It's so wide it can't even fly through a gate. It can carry ships inside its cavernous bays.

Have any pilots used it in direct combat? How does it rate?

I've noticed it when I go through the gate very fast, as with a Kestral with Turbo 1. I think in that case there's a certain exact position that triggers the jump if your ship is there when the computer checks. A fast ship can already be past the point.

Welcome to TC, chisom! There's a lot of good answers to your questions. Prepare yourself! Avarice is a good choice in TC. It's between Montelaar and New Income. You can build a self sufficient structure there and have your own home base. You can sell spacefuel and/or spaceweed, make money, and impro...

1. It's hard to notice much difference in the combat. There's more hull in the ships in AP so it takes a little longer for the combat. Or more missiles. But if your methods are sound, they'll give you a win in both in TC and AP. A little longer doesn't matter. 2. As far as I understand it, OOS comba...

Here a few things to explore that will get you ahead on the learning curve, which is steep. Pirates. Go ahead and kill pirates for a while. It will help you with the mechanics of AP combat. But soon you'll observe that having a bad pirate reputation will make the AP universe unsafe for you but espec...
