Re: X4 Foundations Poll #3: What did you NOT like?

It’s not that I don’t like a lot of the features, it’s just that so many of them are poorly implemented because the scripts driving them don’t come close to working. The fact that modders easily improve things in X games point to how little work seems to go into the non-shuny under the hood guts of ...

Re: Too much like Elite Dangerous

Yesterday’s big ED Update has added more interesting depth to things like mining and exploration. X can’t compete in these terms but ED has had years head start. Where it doesn’t compete is the empire building gameplay rhe X series has. One X streamer I watched put the diffrence like this. In ED yo...

Re: Too much like Elite Dangerous

ED and X4 are super different. Namely, you can actually get something done in 20 minutes in X4, whereas in ED you'll be looking for USS in supercruise hoping to get something to spawn for at least 30. I’m a fan of both games but it’s true. In ED you really have to graft for your gains. I’ve recentl...

Re: I don't agree with the devs about universe size

Foundations- it`s in the name. clearly they intend to add a lot more to it. I think they made a mistake adding that Space Highway. It makes the Universe seem smaller since it`s so easy to get anywhere now. Also teleport- I haven`t fully researched it,but it looks like that lets you get anywhere too...

Re: I don't agree with the devs about universe size

In one of the recent videos where the devs addressed the complaints about universe size, they said that the X4 universe is the biggest so far because the sectors are bigger. Which translates to "players complains about the universe size are wrong" Well, i disagree with the devs. When I play X3 or X...

Re: Turret aim is one critical error. Turret damage is another.

No matter how they rebalance this, a fast-moving fighter shouldn't be an easy target for capital ships (unless it's standing still and the only target around). Overpowered anti-fighter weapons just lead to boring gameplay, capital ships should need protection from their own fighters so each ship cl...

Re: MY PILOTS ARE IDIOTS

I guess that particular part of the game is still a work in progress, devs are probably I hope going to go back and redo it. It's not game breaking but just amounts to a large amount of frustration on the players part where we end up head butting our desk or the room wall due to how idiotic pilots ...

There already is a MOD on Nexus to remove highways.
Great. Isn’t it interesting though, that just like with the first XR mods, they are removing rather than adding stuff.

Re: X4 V X3 which game had better combat?

It's their problems that they can't adapt code to new game and rewrite it from zero each time. And each time same behaviors like: formation follow, auto trade, pathfinding, auto exploration become broken, useless, dumbed down. Yes, code language may be different, but not algorithms! Why they forgot...

Re: X4 V X3 which game had better combat?

Please, stop comparing a game with TEN YEARS of additional development onto it, with X4 which has only just been released. It's their problems that they can't adapt code to new game and rewrite it from zero each time. And each time same behaviors like: formation follow, auto trade, pathfinding, aut...

Re: X4 V X3 which game had better combat?

I'm not talking balance even, I'm talking about the beauty of the combat, from a purely aesthetic point of view, watching fleet battles in x3 always left my jaw on the floor. Even unbalanced, it just felt glorious It did and that was because cap ships were fearsome beasts. They just aren’t yet, in ...

Re: How'd egosoft screw the pooch on turrets so hard?

Also to add - when I think of how great AP is I am really thinking of the awesome Total Conversion mods that turned it from something good to something brilliant. I am certain with time we will get amazing mods, as X4 offers more in terms of possibility. Hopefully but I fear they will be more limit...

Re: Map Issues and Miners going past edge of sector!

This only started happening for me with the last patch. I have had ships do a right angle turn and just fly forever in that direction. Both miners and explorers. Started for me before the last patch. The odd thing is that while that’s what my scouts generally do now the odd one or two new ones do w...

Re: Miners going past edge of sector!

Well the display is kinda misleading, since sectors expand as you fly outwards. I'm not sure why they aren't finishing local resources before expanding out, but they are flying outside the area because there are probably resources there. It is technically still within the same region, but it will t...

Re: How'd egosoft screw the pooch on turrets so hard?

I've read through this thread. It made me think. So all in all, how is X4 an improvement on X3 (except for now you can see people and actual cockpits/bridges)? It seems whatever they change compared to X3 it fails. Was X3AP the best gameplay-wise that ES could ever do? X3AP is hands down the best i...

Everything from scouts to the pilots of your own ship have minds of their own.

Very tiny minds.

Re: Is this how you intended Corvette Vs fighter Combat?.

Okay, frigate then. Which is a class up from a corvette in Navy terms. It doesn’t matter. The point is that artificially changing weapon effectiveness based on the ship size is ridiculous and lazy game design.

Re: Is this how you intended Corvette Vs fighter Combat?.

You can spin it how you like but 2 N class Xenon should have no chance agsinst a Corvette.

There’s no point to Corvettes or othe caps if they are less dangerous than a medium fighter.

If the game balance demands artificially nerfing weapons on cap ships then something is terribly wrong.
