Re: Thank you for sending out that new feature survey

That survey made me realise that Egosoft are catering to an entirely different audience than me.

Re: The Xenon...Why?

I'm not having much fun playing X4 because of the Xenon. Back to Minecrat for me, I can handle the pillagers.

Re: thanks Egosoft for the X Series and Bye

I think he means it's hard to make any money manual trading as by the time you arrive at the buy or sell point the prices change substantially creating frustration. This caused by how trade reservation works as a Large trader can preorder the whole stock of your chosen station from the other side o...

Re: thanks Egosoft for the X Series and Bye

Absence of trade? Completely overlooked? Are we playing the same game? There are plenty of trading opportunities and options. Perhaps not exactly as you would have imagines, but still. Trade isn't absent. Realistic opportunities for the player to use their own ship to trade are absent. When I say "...

Re: thanks Egosoft for the X Series and Bye

No, I only played a couple of hours of XR. I did, however, play hundreds of hours of X:Tension and X2, most of them in a TS class ship, trading.

Re: S Mining/Trade Ships

I'm curious how playing a single ship trader compares to X3. In that game being a trader was very viable early on, since missions were difficult and the pay out wasn't huge till you built enough rep. But now, in X4 ,missions have such a huge pay out and are much easier. Which effectively let's you ...

Re: thanks Egosoft for the X Series and Bye

My grumble is just the absence of "Trade" in "Trade, Fight, Build, Think". I wanted to trade in a Courier, saving up to upgrade to a Mercury. Unfortunately, using the player piloted ship for trade appears to have been completely overlooked as a gameplay option.

Feature request: Manual trading with the player ship

I'd like to fly my cargo freighter around, buying and selling wares for profit. My NPC pilots can do this, but I can't, because I can't reserve a selling price at my destination. I'd like to be able to select a station's buy offer on the map, and fulfil it myself, without having to order my NPC pilo...

Re: What's the point of Carriers?

Using a carrier to attack into another sector is a good reason to have rapid launch ability, send the carrier in and then launch all the fighters, but even then there's not really a reason why you would need the carrier, you could just send all the fighters through. Bit of a niche case, I know, but...

Re: Please improve interaction menu

I've taken to hitting pause to work around the UI in this game so frequently, that I'm wishing I had a fancy mouse with extra buttons so that I could pause with that.

The front and back of a Xenon I would easily break the sound barrier if it turned like that in air.

It seems that the Linux beta doesn't sign saved games as valid, and so it isn't really possible to test ventures.
I just sent a ship off on a venture.
Well, I could explore this more, but mine failed to go on a venture after I loaded the save in Windows again.

Re: Getting crew to repair ship seems almost impossible if ship small.

Have you tried taking off, and exiting your ship right there above the landing pad? You can use your suit then, and repair whichever ships are nearby (even if they're landed). You can enter a landed ship using your space suit, although it can be a squeeze to get underneath it.

It seems that the Linux beta doesn't sign saved games as valid, and so it isn't really possible to test ventures. works here (i'll test again) but i imported the folder from windows. Also check your save is not modified/moded. I don't know how to check that. I have never modified a saved game or in...

Re: 2.0 Docking Nemesis on Oddyseus breaks the door

In that saved game, you will find that using Shift+D to travel to the bridge of the Oddyseus, it is impossible to interact with the transport room console, the captain or the flight console. This renders it impossible to fly the ship.

I'm seeing a lot more bloom/glow in white objects (such as the transport room door in my ship) on Linux than I experience in Windows.

2.0 Docking Nemesis on Oddyseus breaks the door

To replicate: Land Nemesis on an Oddyseus, get up, and attempt to use the transporter room to leave the ship. Expected: Door opens, console in transport room allows travel to Oddyseus docking area. Actual: Door doesn't open. If player follows the NPC pilot into the transport room, the door closes, l...

Re: Linux Support (Beta)

The network features of the game authenticate against your account on this forum. Presumably, these libs are required to do that. Kerberos allows the game to get a ticket and stay logged in, while ssh can do whatever ssl does, considering that it's all self-certified.
