Halcy0n, you can remove the deadzone (get it below the slider's minimum) by editing the registry keys for the game.

I've seen this too as well as the issue with the incoming jumpgate being off center lots of times when flying to a sector with seta on it will put me through the jump gate facing backwards/sideways/etc. So far it hasn't crashed me into the gate so I have been fine with it but it does make me nervous...
