I thought this already was in place - top right you see the components, along with a total for the bits needed. You may need to open the drop-down menu to see them.

I too would like to see an overall update on boarding. One that includes M class ships too - as some of those M freighters are absolutely boardable. In fact, I'd consider boarding those to whisk away the valuables as the primary goal of pirates - right now they seme to shoot and run away with nothin...

Then its easy - the ship you scrap does not turn into 100% of the component cost. If you get 80% back, plus "scrap" then there isn't an economic advantage to scrapping. It becomes a extra feature of the game, one that is already catered for by mods.

IIRC there's a known bug where the game simply doesn't load from Crucial SSDs.
I had this, started the game and nothing but blank screen. There's a thread that mentions this. Moved to a different drive and everything started working. So if you've upgraded your drive in the meantime, could be this.

There could be a decay setting associated with the towers. So that they auto destroy after some time elapsed. If that were implemented it would totally eliminate their use as static defences. Yep, that's OK. They're little defensive tools for a short while before burning out or running out of batte...
