Re: Make Casinos Functional Please!!

Suppose instead of playing for credits, we play for mod parts. Have it set up so we place a minimum 'bet' and always get at least a low level mod, the larger the bet, the greater the chance of getting a higher level mod. It would be an alternative way to get mods, but instead of killing for them, we...

Re: Energy cells should be non-refundable

I don't think the solar power plant needs anything. Its economic value is one of the lowest in the game as it is. You can't make a lot of credits just selling energy cells, especially since most NPC stations don't ask for them at a reasonable price. Solar power plants are starter stations to which y...

Re: Energy cells should be non-refundable

I'd think it came from the builder ship when a drone returns after each (short) trip. But whatever.

Or more logically, their power source is built into them the same way as it is in all other ships in the X-Universe.

Re: Energy cells should be non-refundable

Let's look at it another way. The Energy used to construct the module comes from the drones that build it. Now suppose the Energy Cells are embedded into the structure as the future power source for that module, being recharged whenever energy is delivered to or created by the station. It would make...

Re: Why Advanced Satellite trading is illogical and exploitish

Or Egosoft can go the lazy route and retcon "Magic dimensional Harry Potter bags" into X-lore...Seriously, don't do that please... You've obviously never played any of the games up to and including the X3's. There was this thing called 'cargo bay compression' that allowed players to add massive amo...

... Most players just outright ignore it. Not sure where you're getting your data from, but it's highly suspect, IMO. :P Personally, I use both station and 'suit scanning a lot, and only rarely do I encounter problems with 'suit scanning, and never with what you term 'station' scanning (more accura...

Re: Why Advanced Satellite trading is illogical and exploitish

... Because it's healthy for the game. Nonsense! Cheesing, such as Drive-by boarding bypasses the intended early-game. And what's "the intended early-game"? Your playstyle or someone else's? Certainly not mine! I would never try to force my playstyles on other players. Why should the devs leave che...

Re: Why Advanced Satellite trading is illogical and exploitish

I've spoken about this numerous times in my VODs (linked in sig) as well. There are several solutions, but it basically boils down to this. 1 - Reduce profit margins on Adv Satellites 2 - Reduce the number of deployables ships can carry. Why??? Don't like it, don't do it. Why should the devs nerf t...

Re: Both Beta and Live Build - 6 biggest pain-points as a player and wasted dev time as a result

You must talk about it to a lot of people, considering there are probably hundreds of thousands of players. Five or six players that don't like scanning hardly count as "most".

Re: Why Advanced Satellite trading is illogical and exploitish

There are a couple reasons why advanced satellite trading is such an overpowered way to make money. 1. The shipyard/wharf you sell to pays you as if you are giving them the entire cost for each advanced satellite (ie 5 advanced electronics, 5 scanning arrays, 10 energy cells per advanced satellite)...

Re: Sometimes I feel that modular space stations are not a good idea

... There's no argument from me that they do unintelligent things, which just reinforces my argument that the player needs to stay involved with the action, not 'order and forget'. What you've explained is commonly referred to as babysitting, rather than commanding. No, it's called playing the game...

Re: Sometimes I feel that modular space stations are not a good idea

We're gin' OT well... :D You're going OT, not me. Naval warfare, which is what X4 tries to simulate, is vastly different from ground warfare. Otherwise, admirals could command ground forces and generals could command fleets. In the X universe, capital ships are the equivalent of army corps, and fig...

Re: Sometimes I feel that modular space stations are not a good idea

... Sry, but the 'commander of the flotilla' does not manage each singular boat, neither it actually directly command the ship on which he is residing (usually). No, they don't "manage" each boat, but they do direct them. It's what fleet leaders do. Each ship's captain is far too busy 'fighting' th...

Re: Do trade restrictions prevent buying too (autotrade, not station)

Memory of Profit is only 4 systems (gates) from Argon Prime if your pilot takes the 'northern' route. Remember, gates are only on the edges of systems. Superhighways and Accelerators don't count. It goes Argon Prime -> Hatikvah's Choice -> Silent Witness -> Eighteen Billion -> Memory of Profit. Hope...

Re: Do we really need 'docing software'?

... Anyway - I woudl vote for the idea that 'docking software v2' should be installed by default at each ship bought in 'civilised space', regardless of level of the fit, though the buyer ofc always should have a possibility to opt out. I would totally disagree with this idea. Most ships bought by ...

Re: Emp bombs

Research is irrelevant to the emp bombs functioning. They can be used to get discounts and even permanent trade subscriptions to a station if you don't have the relevant research for that module. More than likely the problem is the surface itself. Oftentimes, the bombs will go right through the surf...

Re: Suggestions for existential crisis

Why is anyone worried about overpowered gate defense stations? If you don't like them, you don't have to build them. Why are you trying to force other players to play by your rules? It's a single player game. The way others play has absolutely no impact on your game, so why should you care? I just d...
