"Prosecutor Jessica Clarke said Stenner illegally claimed a total of £7,782" Then: "Dionne Stenner, 29, was ordered to pay costs and fines totalling £1,315" Bloody good trade-off there, she's profited by 6 and a half grand! I hate the justice system in this country, it rather ironically borders on ...

I think I nearly made a fatal error there! I believe my board is only PCI-e 1.1 and therefore won't support that card as it's a PCI-e 2.0. Poop! :( Edit: Oh hang on, now I read they are backward compatible, this goes to show you should never take the first thing you read on the internet as the truth...

Cheers for your replies. I had further problems with the card last night. I also want to stick with Nvidia. I used to always get ATI and preferred their cards whereas now I prefer Nvidia as they seem more stable, until they die of course! I have been looking on ebuyer and came across th...

Cheers Paul. Although, it's seems to have been reborn and is currently working again! :D I imagine it will go again for good, but for now it's letting me use Chrome, iTunes and Mail. I daren't try a graphics hungry game quite yet. I have obviously also ensured all fans etc are dust free. Lets hope i...

I think the amount of money wasted in combating the student riots is criminal, more criminal than the student fee's increase which they object against. Is this honestly the best way to make a difference? Or just pushing the country further into debt?

Update... Win 7 arrived and now installed, clean install very quick! I think that is all I need to do at the moment to keep me happy! :) The system is running a lot better than it was, makes me think that perhaps a re-install of Vista would have worked, but if you're going to re-install you may as w...

It's a pre built system, so I assume it is probably a cheap power supply, I'll take a look... it's a HEC-550TD-PTE. Edit: Managed to get the GPU temp now, had to install 3 items from the Asus site as it's an Asus card. Will try Civ 5 again while monitoring the gpu temp and see what happens, it's cur...

Hopefully Win 7 will be here tomorrow, I was a cheapskate and went for the free delivery option. I've been playing Civ 5 recently both on my laptop and on my desktop. Whilst playing it on my desktop I notice slow downs and occasionally it has crashed, also after a while of playing I sometimes get gr...

Very true, I doubt I'll use the features and there are many freeware apps that I could use instead. I've just read up about versions and to be honest I think I would be better off with a full version, as the Vista Ultimate I have came bundled with this PC and in the future I may want to use Win 7 on...

Thanks for all your replies and suggestions. I not long ago bought a laptop with Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit, Intel i5-540M (2.53GHz) processor, 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 and 8GB's RAM. The little beast has made me notice that my desktop is a lot slower and it is beginning to bug me. Also I clea...

Desktop Upgrade

My desktop pc is nearly 3 years old and the performance could do with an improvement. I haven't kept up to date with pc components and therefore I would have to invest quite a bit of time researching before being in a position to actually buy anything. I'm hoping some people here maybe able to save ...

Cheers for the advice Unkillable Cat! :) I have a 3.5mm to phono cable already plugged into the Amp for my iPhone so will try that, usually avoid these types of connections because they don't sound as good, but needs must. I've always liked good sounding music since I was a kid. I bought a Pioneer A...

Sky HD can only pass audio via optical to an amp. Its a problem with sky not your amplifier. I work in a hifi shop and encounter this a fair bit. If your amplifier is a seperates amp you will cetainly have an optical input or two on the rear. If its a one-box home cinema it will be a bit hit and mi...

With my Virgin Media HD box, we have to connect the box to the amp independantly. If we want to watch a BluRay and listen to it via the Amp, we need to switch the optical cable around. It's a pain but it's the only way I ever managed to get it to work. Cheers for this, makes me believe that my TV i...

Good question, but...

I was hoping if I had the audio coming from the TV then all audio (SKY, analogue, Freeview, Blu-ray etc) would come through the stereo with only one connection. Actually I haven't tried my Blu-ray which is on HDMI 2 yet. Will do that now! :)

HDMI audio

I love the way this forum is now part of my problem solving process! Here's the background to the problem I'm hoping someone may be able to help with... I decided to get Sky+HD so also purchased a new TV at the same time. I didn't want to spend huge amounts on a TV as no doubt technology will change...
