Re: [MOD] Terran Conflict plots 2.2a for Albion Prelude 3.1

I collected all the fixes in this thread and integrated with my own. Mythrantar: TCAP patch for AP3.2 to Version 2.0: Fixed the generic missions. SirNukes: Fixed New Home gate problem. TechSY730: Fixed #cafe jump out prematurely. Mine: Khaak Plot: Fixed readtext missing title. ANH: At the hacking s...

Re: Why i always stop playing x4 untill the next update comes out

X4 barely has any lore as it is and it's basically an economic sandbox, so I think it would lend itself particularly well to a mode where there are no plots/story missions and the map is procedurally generated. Stir the Petri Dish and see what happens basically. (Side-note: personally, I would actua...

Re: L/XL Class ship queue too long in Super Highways vs Jump Gates

Gah, those videos are so painful to watch. I think Egosoft should add powerful tractor beams to jumpgates and accelerators that just grab queuing ships and shove them in. This way they just have to be in the vicinity of the gate. With two tractor beams processing one ship every two seconds, the queu...

Re: Do I have to pay extra for a game that works?

It's like teaching a child to walk by repeatedly throwing him into a pit. Didn't the first game in the series, the X: Beyond the Frontier do exactly that and still succeed? Since when has entertainment business started to abandon "working formula"? I haven't played X1 (though I did watch a full pla...

Looks like the whole point of the linked post flew completely over your head. It's a general statement...

Re: Going through some negative feedback while planning the next 4.0 update

You want negative feedback? Well, it so happens that I explain in this post how you traumatize new players with your mission structure. I plan to eventually format this post into a review to warn people about it, but at least this way you have a chance to fix it before I get to it: https://forum.ego...

Re: Do I have to pay extra for a game that works?

To be fair to the OP, the game is horribly tutorialized. I don't mean in the way of needing more popups in your face telling you what to do, but rather along the way of organizing the missions in some kind of logical progression to ensure you have most of the resources needed to accomplish the task ...

Re: X4 could learn some things from Freespace 2 (1999) combat

Just bear in mind that X Rebirth was a DirectX game and that XR VR and X4 are both Vulkan games. I don't know how much (if at all) that affects the appearance and resource cost of such special effects though. Vulkan can display whatever you want, and can in theory be a lot more efficient at doing i...

Re: X4 could learn some things from Freespace 2 (1999) combat

My opinion there are things in x the rebirth they made awesome combat capital fight even the IP engine was good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0efykPkzGk but the rather SCRAPE everything and start from scratch that was a BIG MISTAKE but hay we are in 2021 now and there is a plenty moders out ther...

Re: [MOD] Racial Wares

This is really interesting. I guess it makes the game slightly harder for the player (less potential buyers for the same resource) but makes some shortages less dramatic for factions?

Re: X4 could learn some things from Freespace 2 (1999) combat

As person who played Freespace 2 for nearly 20 years - half of the things you mention wan't actually done by Freespace 2, but actually by mods when Freespace 2 released it's code for Open Source modding. Not that Egosoft couldn't learn a few things from both Freespace 2 and it's Open source. I play...

X4 could learn some things from Freespace 2 (1999) combat

I can't keep but feel underwhelmed when watching capital ship combat in X4, and I realized that's because it pales compared to my memories of playing Freespace 2. I watched Youtube videos to see if it was just rose-tinted glasses, and I was amazed to see that more than 20 years later (and admittedly...

Re: [3.3] There seems to be no stopping the Xenon

As someone who's been watching and waiting trying to figure out if I should purchase this game, here's what I'm getting out of this thread and other similar ones here and on the Steam forums: - In some games, without large-scale player intervention some factions (especially the new DLC one) just get...

Re: Egosoft@Gamescom | Live@Gamestar | Translated Summary

I don't care if they are added or not. I'm not against the boron being put in, I just didn't like them in previous games. I'd rather the terrans be in the second expansion. Or maybe they could have a new alien race, instead of having two human races and recycling the same content since the first X ...

Re: Announcing X4: Split Vendetta and update 3.0

The thought to need a balanced game in the first place is imho the biggest problem. Neither is X nor the previous games a competative Title nor is it even Multiplayer to begin with balanced in a classical sense it is not necessary. I even would go as far and say it limits replay ability and role pl...

Re: Announcing X4: Split Vendetta and update 3.0

They could adjust the difficulty of the game, without severely limiting the AI or the economy, by decreasing payouts for crystals, inventory items, and missions. Without these paying huge amounts of credits, working your way to the top would be incredibly difficult. Making money through trade, espe...

Re: Announcing X4: Split Vendetta and update 3.0

Everyone likes the feeling of progress so advanced game starts that basically skip content aren't the solution. Sliders for progress multipliers are what we need, with some slow/medium/fast presets so we're don't have to tweak them through trial and error. Think Civ with it's settings like Epic game...

Re: Been away but back now. Where is everything?

I am not expecting X4 to be effected by the weather, that would be silly. Actually, space does have weather, namely solar winds and storms. The level of radiation could affect solar power plants productivity at least, and very high levels of radiation could pose a hasard to space travel at certain ...

Re: What I really miss from X2 and X3

I actually miss X2's story, because despite the awful cutscenes it managed to instill a sense of mystery and danger. None of the X3 plots did that for me from TC on, and X:Rebirth was mostly blabber about boring corporations. But what I really miss most is things feeling fresh again I think. X2 was ...

Re: How'd egosoft screw the pooch on turrets so hard?

Not much can happen in that time -> game is more boring because less things change on the grand scale. See the difference? Ok, I get what you mean. Not sure I'm convinced though: sure without SETA you're spending less time in a given sector, but you're getting faster to other places where a lot of ...
