Death Penalties are awful, you can save up for months to get a brand new ship, then lose it in one day to a couple inferior ships. Back to square one.

It also involves tons of mining and a pretty steep learnin curve, not for the impatient.

I think the main problem many people has with Freelancer is that they expected something different. I love Starlancer. Freelancer was essentially supposed to be the sequel, like Starlancer but with massively multiplayer, economy, trading etc. When a lead member left though, I think the game changed ...
