Simple answer is you can't run a 64bit program on a 32 bit OS, but you can the other way round. NEVER EVER buy a 32bit OS, always get the 64bit version. 32 bit OS's should have died out 10 years ago and Microsoft is to blame for still providing them to unwary users.
