They already are save game compatible? Just save your game prior to the beta, load up the beta, load up your saved game, and if you are concerned, do not save over that game, use a different save slot.

I have invested a bit of time playing the public build, and I just do not want to have to squeeze out another Thirty or so hours of new game play for the Beta/Experimental build to get back too where I am now. Is there an alternate way to download this mod for those like myself who do not have the steam version?

I own the GOG version, and so far most of what is posted if for steam users which I find to be a shame really.
