I prefer to have corvettes as sector defence (at least 1 per sector, but only in hot spots) and a personal fleet that can be dispatched anywhere needed or follow me assaulting enemies, though.

IMHO, having a story line would spice up the game rather than just giving us the sandbox mode. We got more in-depth experience of X-Universe rather than just placing one factory here, one factory there, one M6 patrols there, bla3...
