my game lags as x3 has a memory leak

and before anyone gets pious, i KNOW its x3 that is causing the leak.

I just quit x3 and restart and its sorted.

Like the screenie of mammoths. just a shame they werent yours :D

or do what i did.
unpack the game
delete the dat/cat files
edit the tships manually or use doubleshadows text editor. both work

nah havent been on the forum for a bit. I didnt read the stickies on how to script. I just took existing scripts and worked out what they were doing. A degree in software engineering helped. then maybe the problem isnt in the understanding of the newbies, but in the structure of the stickies. i fix pc's. if i try to explain what i have done to a layman, sometimes his eyes glaze after about 5 secs. It could be the same, with overexperienced scripters quickly dashing out what they reckon ...

when your trader goes into standby mode, tell him to start the sector trader in the next sector and go back to killing things.

I got 5 level 25 traders this way without too much hassle. each time you stop fighting, just check the status of your traders...

check the station parameters. you may have set the number of jumps too low. in that, if your wares are 5 jumps away, and you have the station set to a max of 2 jumps, they will just sit idle. bit tired, so might be guilty of skimming your post, so this may not be your problem, but i had that too til...

the "read the sticky" whilst meant to be helpful is bloody unfriendly, and not that helpful. I worked this out for x2. once i have the time to confirm how its done in x3, i will post in Monkey Talk on how to do it

look at that. i looked this thread up to make a suggestion and was beaten to it.

the beaming of astronauts for slaves is a magic idea. I am using the deathmatch script, and i just LOATHE to see the wee baskets get away.

any chance of a version 1.2 incorporating this?

i have a Khaak M3 with beta kyon emitters just bog standard damage. but 20x 1Gj shields and practically no energy drain on the weapons. put it together for a laugh, but when i cleaned up a colossus with just the beams, i thought it a bit overpowered :) I still have in the back of the hanger somewher...
