then maybe the problem isnt in the understanding of the newbies, but in the structure of the stickies. i fix pc's. if i try to explain what i have done to a layman, sometimes his eyes glaze after about 5 secs. check the station parameters. you may have set the number of jumps too low. in that, if your wares are 5 jumps away, and you have the station set to a max of 2 jumps, they will just sit idle. bit tired, so might be guilty of skimming your post, so this may not be your problem, but i had that too til...

i have a Khaak M3 with beta kyon emitters just bog standard damage. but 20x 1Gj shields and practically no energy drain on the weapons. put it together for a laugh, but when i cleaned up a colossus with just the beams, i thought it a bit overpowered :) I still have in the back of the hanger somewher...
