Hmm, if that is the cause I would really start to look into sound drivers and codecs as new music is one of the biggest changes when entering a new sector.

Been using a Creative X-Fi soundcard all the time I've played X3TC (since it came out) and it has worked great both under Win XP and now Win 7.

Test if jumping to another sector clears the lag, try it both by using a gate and by using the jumpdrive.
Have no idea if it will work, just curious.
