Just to clarify, fighters on a TL (or carrier) will only protect the TL if they (the fighters) have the TL assigned as their "homebase". Otherwise, they'll just stay docked when the TL is attacked. Same applies to stations. On a side note, I've been using Split Iguanas as backups for my Centaurs on ...

In X2, my Iguana was, hands-down, my favorite ship. I used it for just about everything. I also kept a Manta in my TL for use as tour ship. In X3, the TP class is far less useful. Since they can't be docked on a TL, I never have one around for Tour missions, and so I don't ever do them. I do use a c...

I don't want to sound unsympathetic, but what are you planning to do with that BIRE? Even with it, your Merc is going to get creamed in any kind of fight. You're best off to try to avoid any kind of fight. Just keep trading in safe sectors and then buy yourself a fighter. Then you can remote trade w...

I've been a PC gamer for almost tenty years now (God help me!), and I find it kind of amusing that pathfinding is still such a huge problem. I wonder why it's so hard to figure out how to get from point A to point B? In X3 the problem seems to be that collision detection kicks in wAAAAy too close to...

I had the DVD version by Deepsilver, even though I live in the US (bought from Newegg). That was scratched badly, so I purchased a new game from BestBuy. This is the CD version, composed of FIVE disks. I, too, had a problem while installing: kept getting a "corrupted disk" message. I updated my BIOS...

There's a product locator (works for ships, too) script that I really recommend. Just pick what you want, and it will send you a message telling you where the item is available, how many there are, and how much. It will save you a LOT of time searching around. Look in the sticky that lists the popul...

Scratched Disk! AAaaarg!!!
I foolishly left my X3 DVD in the drive. All those spastic, high speed spin-ups when I start my comp have put a big scratch in my disk, and I can't do a reinstall, now. Can I get a replacement from egosoft or Deepsilver? Has anyone had any success with any of those scratch remover things? Or m...

How about a couple hundred laser towers, a Centaur, and a wing of M4's? I have a similar complex in Ocean of Fantasy, and I end up doing a LOT of fighting around there. There are always Xenon and pirates flying through that area. You'll make some cash, but you'll have to earn it the hard way. As for...

If you can overcome the fear of an unsigned script throwing your computer deep into the bowels of hell you might want to try the Satellite Limited Mk3 Universal Trader . :) I use that script, too, and it's a real lifesaver. Since I installed it I've lost only one UT, and that in a dangerous sector ...

So far (knock on wood), I've only had one massive Khaak invasion in my game. It was in Ghinn's Escape - three destroyers and a medium-sized cluster. With nothing better than an M3, I tried taking them on and lost - big time and many times. Until, that is, I noticed that if no one fired upon them the...

Don't be so harsh on the guy. Maybe he's from a country where they speak English as a second language - like Canada. :D Seriously though, I always get a kick out of the "Dis gaim is so buggd" posts. You see them in every forum. A game developer has to work with millions of lines of code, but these c...
