There are OOS combat scripts but installing the Bonus Pack correctly should not affect them. I suppose that it is theoretically possible that while installing the BP something went wrong and corrupted other core files such as combat or jobs too, but that *should* be revealed and fixed by doing a GOG...

I believe that avoiding sectors with known hostiles is a facility only done by Level 5 CLS pilots (Dealers) or above. The effect should only be there while still accelerating and not when the ship has reached steady speed in any travel mode.

... but then some player will mod in a proton beam weapon of the Ghostbusters type (the Astrid turret fire effect is a good choice for this) and demand to be able to freeze the 'ghosts' in place. Let's just hope they don't cross the beams or the X4 galaxy is doomed. :D

Make sure that your game already has all the X2 patches applied in the release by GOG as 1.4 added in some changes to benefit x64 users. What version does your game say it is?

Definitely the Split; they initially need so much help to survive their own internal feuds and the attacks of hostile neighbours and Xenon. Once safely established though (and post Split plot decisions) they are so much fun to role-play in mid to late game. Also their ships seem to fill all my needs...
