I double click to start the game, i get no screen what so ever... Just the error. It doesnt check for cd or anything.

Yup, did that. Updated everything again, but the only differance is my XP version. Windows keeps whining and complaining about all kinds of "protective" measures, even when i turn off all security settings. And i did my research: (0cx0000005) means that its trying to get into something in my memory ...

I've just spent 45,- on a complete test for everything in my computer, they've kept it running for 5 days to stress everything to the maximum and gave me a certificate to say it passed with flying colours. So I really doubt its something Hardware related, more like a little glitch in software somewh...

Everything else works just fine, when i open task manager and try to start the game all it says is X2.exe Application Error

Reinstalling hasn't been an option, did that 3 times by now... also doesn't matter if i don't update anything, nor does it matter if i do.

Did that, still no-go. Checked what pjknibbs said about that Acces Violation, and he's right. And the game used to run with the Catalyst 4.7 driver, just thought i might try 3.9 since that one gets recommended rather often on Forums. Every other game also runs on 4.7 without problems, so i really do...

I dont even get the initial options screen to be able to check the version number... but 1.0 doesnt work either. Original install without any updating is 1.0 i presume.

Agreed, why would i want to turn off AA, Auto save, eax and check every damn file in the game when they should have made a game that just works, period.
