Okay, got X3 in the mail. Should I install it?

I played x2 and like that game. I have just heard too much bad stuff about x3 on these forums. I was wondering if I should install it or resell it? I paid 30 shipped so there would be no money loss.

So, what do you say?

well if its sitting there why not install it and see.... some people (like myself) are experiencing problems (since V1.3) but looking at your system spec you'll be ok (well maybe).
the game its self is probably as enjoyable as X2, in some aspects theres less, but in others theres more.... but the biggie is the graphics which are just... great

try it and see

. I would install if I were you. Some people are having problems, while others aren't having any at all. You can usually work around the gameplay problems, and it is still great fun

Install, get 1.3 patch, install patch, play. Consider the game as around 70-80% complete and you're good

NO!! DO NOT INSTALL IT!! GIVE IT INTO THE MAILSYSTEM IT EMERGED FROM!! (of course send onto my address - I'll have another copy of X3 - and for free)

(what else could I answer? Install of course - why shouldn't you - with 1.21 it's playable - I had only 2 missions to go when I installed 1.3.. With 1.3 I continue having even a better fun - just had to fix that damn turret)

Remember that the messages are from the people that had problems. The people that had no problems are playing the game, not writing messages!

There are some problems with V1.0, but all of the ones I saw are fixed in V1.3, so make sure you get the patch.

And, get the new PDF manual download, too.

Personally i was worried at first but i got it right when 1.3 came out and i have had no problems whatsoever besides the occaisonal (5% of the time) crash to desktop when loading an autosave from ingame... but since this doesn't affect gameplay at all its not a problem. If you like x2 then i say go ahead and install it. If you like combat, its great, if you like trading, despite what others have said, its still better than x2. It does need a few things but egosoft seems pretty good about listening to its fans and putting out patches with requests. Go for it. Just make sure your system can handle it. In 1.3 lag seems greatly reduced but not eliminated when there are a lot of objects (asteriods, sometimes ships, and lots of planets) onscreen.

I'm running P4 3.6 Ghz processor with 2 Gb of RAM, an Nvidia GeForce 6800 go (mobile), and 2 40 Gb 5400RPM RAID 0 hd's, anything above that should be fine.

I vote we stop answering people's trollish polls. Look if you didn't want to try the game, why did you buy it? It's not like you preordered it before anyone knew anything about it anyway.
