Need urgent help, dealing with the "paranid embargo". Pleeease!
So here is the situation. I bought a SPP L for nearly 10mil cr from Great reef, hoping to transport it to Home of light. The paranid however becouse of "the khaak theat" decided to blow everything passing through their sectors up, including the hired orca. So, as this is my first factory and i haven't much additional assets i cannot afford a TL myself nor to lose that SPP. I have only a mamba raider so far and thus i'm unable to defent the boron TL against the security of several paranid sectors. I didn't realy stood a chance against that Ody alone in the first sector on the way - Trinity sanctum. So what do you suggest to do from now on? I have no safe before the point when the Paranid went mad. Suggestions, please?!

Interesting and amusing problem!
I'd tell the Orca captain to go somewhere else, an SPP L can make money anywhere there's a reasonable concentration of factories in the sector you place it and a couple around it. Try somewhere there's no other SPPs within a sector or two.
Alternatively, if you don't mind the Orca taking a longer trip and can get it through 2 paranid sectors, have him take a right at Trinity Sanctum and through Preacher's Refuge, from there you continue East onto Rolk's Legacy. North there takes you through Argon Space then head West at Aladna Hill. From there you're into Pirate territory but the Orca should be able to get through to Split Fire, North into Elena's fortune then West twice into Home of Light.
Bit risky but could make for an entertaining escort jaunt if you're feeling brave!
EDIT: Sorry, mis-read that it was Trinity Sanctum you said the Ody was in, probably scratch the second suggestion then.

Paranid
Well, I am at the stage where the Paranid are not friendly....
However, this only appears to be in the "Core Sectors" - Paranid Prime and a couple of others around there, Trinity Sanctum and the other one with the shipyard....
One Suggestion which I have used successfully in another situation like this - if you are faster than the Ody in your ship, lead it away from the ORca and send the Orca through whilst the Ody is following you - you only need to get it past Trinity Sanctum and then it should be OK in Pontifex and Priests - from there, Split fire should be a breeze...
The only problem I can't remember how to direct the Orca other than "Follow Me" - if that's the case, then it's more difficult, but if you can tell it to go to Split Fire and then lead the reception committee in Trinity Sanctum a merry dance just until the Orca Gets through, you are in business.
Let us know if that works!!!

Tell it "move to sector".Sirus5 wrote:The only problem I can't remember how to direct the Orca other than "Follow Me"

Re: Paranid
Well it doesn't work The problem with your suggestion Sirus5 is that i cannot draw the attention of all security forces in the sector, no matter what i try. I can only take away the Destroyer and couple of wingmen while a whole squadron of perseuses (whatever the plural form is) attack the Orca, which on other hand always seems to retaliate to the paranid attacks and instead of running like hell towards safe haevan it "stands its ground". Eventually the Orca gets destroyed no matter if i'm IS/OOS.Sirus5 wrote:One Suggestion which I have used successfully in another situation like this - if you are faster than the Ody in your ship, lead it away from the ORca and send the Orca through whilst the Ody is following you - you only need to get it past Trinity Sanctum and then it should be OK in Pontifex and Priests - from there, Split fire should be a breeze...
Thanks for the idea anyway. Any other suggestions, come on, i don't believe i'm the only one who had problems with this

If you just happen to have a spare 20 million, get an Elephant, take it to Terracorp HQ and get a Jumpdrive and energycells (or just jump a ship to the shipyard where you buy the elephant and swap the JD and some energy to the elephant) then you can jump your facs wherever you want and by-pass the Paranid.
I always keep my elephant parked at Terracorp HQ so I can keep it well stocked with energy.
Edit: I know you said you can't afford a TL but if you can spend 10 mill on a factory....

If it was that easy i would have done it. However 1st i don't have 2mil, let alone 20mil "spare". The bigger problem is that the SPP is inside HIRED orca and i can't transfer any JD to it, nor make it use one.Rhonkar's Trench wrote:If you just happen to have a spare 20 million, get an Elephant, take it to Terracorp HQ and get a Jumpdrive and energycells (or just jump a ship to the shipyard where you buy the elephant and swap the JD and some energy to the elephant) then you can jump your facs wherever you want and by-pass the Paranid.

Only solution I can think of is to slap the SPP down somewhere in those Southern Boron Sectors, and either make the best you can out of it there or install the script that allows you to sell stations and try and get back half your cash.

You could just park the TL somewhere and finish the plot. You're near the end anyway - sort of. IMHO, the plot is best completed (it's lame) so you can get on with the real game. Beats losing such a big investment.
And, yes, you will want to get your own TL ASAP.

I didn't do this myself though, perhaps someone else can clarify.

use the fact that your paranid rank is locked to have a little fun
I hear that when you move on your rank goes back to what it was regardless.

I believe they do.NightPrince wrote:I see. Well i guess that's what i gonna do now. It's been many months since I've done this so my memory is shaky, and you've probably already made your decision but...NightPrince wrote:So here is the situation. You can fly into Paranid border systems while they have the embargo, destroy a few pirates to regain ypur lost rep, just don't do any more plot missions until you have done what you want in Paranid space cause your rep will fall again. Seems to me like a bit of a bug at the time and it may well have been fixed by now .

Re: Paranid
OK, Two further suggestions, I presume you are going North with the Orca - Try leading all the Security forces North and take the Orca East out to Lucky Planets - Can't remember if that's quite short... The other option is to take it through Cardinals the other Main Sector - that's not a short trip though but if there aren't many security forces, you may be able to lead most of them away for the Orca to slip through.NightPrince wrote: Well it doesn't work The problem with your suggestion Sirus5 is that i cannot draw the attention of all security forces in the sector, no matter what i try.
If you have a Jump Drive, Tell the Orca to wait just south of the sector, take as many of the security as you can away, then Jump back to the Gate the Orca is to come in at and lure away some more - then try it...
