I sympathize with wanting more Rebirth action, but this sort of free update is part of while I'm such a fan of the X series in the first place. This is just Egosoft's delightful craziness.

Will the update require a new start if we want to play the new campaign, or could we start with the Terran commander(or whatever that start is called) now, and get access to the campaign with the patch?

Hmm I'm wondering if just before Rebirth release egosoft will add a new plot to X3AP which will be somewhere along the lines of "The gates are failing!!!". I reckon that would be pretty cool, especially if they first failed in such a way that the universe was cut off into clusters only accessible via jump drives.

Finally we Terrans get a break! And that qualification - "partial" destruction of the Torus? Sounds pretty good to me.
Yeah I'm hankering to know what XR is like too, but free updates while Ego makes the new game better is a win-win. Lacking TC attention kind of stinks but at least we've got XRM, XTC and the like to keep us busy there.

So we can't use existing Terran savedgame? Dissapointed by this silly move but I can understand what if a player don't want to mess up his/her savedgame. We always have the options not to go there and respond for the invite and complette the plot....

Buying Building Configuring the same stuff that we need for survival is not fun. Jump into the action with all we already have is just a great dream of mine ;p

At least please give us a real deal at the beginning.

Sorry but the only silly move is to post things like that. If anyone told you that you will not be able to use your existing Terran save, they lied to you.

I think I see a possible reason for the confusion. In the forum is an announcement about testing the beta. It does explicitly state that it's a *test* version. Nevertheless anyone following the link to the devnet section would find a warning about save incompatibility.

The regular, proper, releases always have been save compatible.

Personally I'm hoping to make nice with the ATF, (or failing that beat the stuffing out of them so they leave my poor traders alone.)
