When is the game "complete"?

Post by esd » Mon, 5. Apr 04, 17:36

I was having a debate with Mon Mothma on Devnet XML Chat as to what constitutes completion of the game. Giskard pointed out it was a highly personal thing, so what's your definition?

Other - when I get bored and there seems to be no challenge left.

However as long as people can come up with new Ideas that should be fine, roll on the extension :)

Like Bernd said of the X-Universe development - it's never complete.

Never, and for the reason that I still play Colonization every now and then when the weather gets too cold to play Outrun Coin Op in my garage

Well, for me, X-T was complete when X2 came out, so I'd have to say, when X3 comes out (or X2-T, if it's more than just an add-on to X2).

Heh... one of these days I have to go dig up my Colonization disc and play it a bit for old times' sake. I loved that game... never was much good at it, but I loved it.

My long term goal is to capture a Xenon K. The game however will only be complete when the X2-addon or X3 are released.

I enjoyed Colonization, but the one I'm eagerly awaiting is the next installment of Lords of the Realm, III. When it comes out, I may have to put X2 aside for a couple of weeks. I really enjoyed LOTR I & II, those classic games of 'cows & catapults'. Just could never figure out how to put the cows on the catapults.

'Colonization' was a DOS game, right? Will it work OK on XP(,,sound, upper memory, high memory bah..). I remember i had to create a boot-disc with tweaked config.sys and autoexec.bat to make it run. It needed 630K+ free memory to be able to even start?

You can download a programme called dosbox. It's a bit fiddly but it works on xp fine.
