Comparitive price guide to OOS-D M6's

Post by xenon_pimp » Tue, 12. Oct 04, 00:48

OK here's the cost to equip analysis for M6's. I'm assuming you are outfitting for OOS-D. Thus, they will include best possible HEPTs for weapons, max shields, no player-only tools like best buy, max engine tunings, max rudder, max cargo, jumpdrive, transporter, 500 ecells at 16 apiece for jumps, navigation command, fight MK1 and MK2, triplex scanner. Weapons and shields bought at average cost, since they are usually acquired from an equipment dock. Jump drive is included so you can get to a neighboring sector quickly if needed. Transporter is included in case you want to get in the ship yourself for a bit, and then get back out. I put these 2 on all my capital ships.

The Dragon
base cost: 6,195,296
5 GHEPTs: 539,044 x 5 = 2,695,220
misc accessories: 183,924 (will be same for all M6)
engine tunings: 19,754
rudder: 16,184
cargo: 202,200

Total Cost: 9,312,578

The Nemmy
base cost: 8,479,448
125 MW shield: 842,256
1 GHEPT, 2 BHEPTs: 1,078,084
misc accessories: 183,924
engine tunings: 22,792
rudder: 23,256
cargo: 111,999

Total Cost: 10,741,759

The Centaur
base cost: 7,058,524
125 MW shield: 842,256
2 GHEPT, 2 BHEPT: 1,617,128
misc accessories: 183,924
engine tunings: 18,239
rudder: 9,110
cargo: 253,000

Total Cost: 9,982,181

The Hydra
base cost: 9,923,224
125 MW shield: 842,256
1 GHEPT, 1 BHEPT: 808,564
misc accessories: 183,924
engine tunings: 31,889
rudder: 9,110
cargo: 506,500

Total Cost: 12,305,467

The Osprey
base cost: 8,957,741
2 125 MW shields: 1,684,512
4 GHEPT, 2 BHEPT: 2,695,216
misc accessories: 183,924
engine tunings: 13,690
rudder: 9,110
cargo: 506,500

Total Cost: 14,050,693

So lets summarize.

Dragon: 9,312,578
Centaur: 9,982,181
Nemesis: 10,741,759
Hydra: 12,305,467
Osprey: 14,050,693

The first 3 are very similar in price once they are all loaded up, I notice.

Hope this helps with future discussions of the true cost of various M6 corvettes.

Nice work!

I'm sure this will come in handy for folks who want to buy an M6, but aren't sure if they can afford one.

Its a good OOS-D ship paired with a 2nd M6 that is armed. It gets to the fight first and gets the Khaak's attention by trying to headbutt them to death, but has enough shields to last till the Centaur or Osprey gets there to finish em.

You can only be in 1 sector at a time, so by default, the majority of one's empire is always OOS

The distinction is important as OOS everything is calculated mathmatically, but when you are in sector, it actually 'happens' and all sorts of things come into effect, like ramming etc.

Nice work Xenon_pimp!
I've always wanted to do something like this myself...only I'm too lazy :)
So the first three are best choices price-wise... Everyone will agree that the Dragon sucks in OOS defence when alone.
So we're basically left with two choices - Centaur and Nemesis.

Centaur for firepower, Nemesis for speed.

So far my only trouble has been with the smallest clusters, because they break up and each M5 goes for a different target. I need a fast ship for that, so the Nemesis is my choice. 90% of my OOS defences are Nemesis corvettes and I've never lost a single one of them, even in Ore Belt.

Nice work xenon_pimp, what were egosoft thinking of? Hydra is the second most expensive ship, did they actually check the Hydra before making it so expensive or were they checking another ship and put the wrong price on the Hydra. :x

Hmm... just a thought: The Hydra was designed specially for the

Khaak mission.
It has the right speed, almost no weapons, so you won't get wasted trying to kill any Khaak, large cargospace for jump fuel, etc.

Use for the Hydra?

Well i use 4 as OOSD up in ocean of fantasy

- well it was that or dragons, and i've yet to loose one

so i'm not convinced its as terriable as people suspect, though it is a little pricey

A Hydra will actually clean up a cluster on its own... usually... if the pilot is young....

Well, he needs to be young enough to have at least 30 good piloting years left in him. Then clearing out a cluster can be his life's work.

Hydra

I use an Osprey protected by a Centaur on OOSD, I have 17 of each, I have one Hydra I use as a missile boat.
