Hey all, have a M-6 question.

Post by Graymarauder » Sat, 16. Apr 05, 22:01

I am back for a short time... Need help with this one.

Just made enough credits to get an M-6. Which will be an Osprey, however, I am wondering about the M-5 ship? Which one to get? So that the missions will be a tad easier. Any suggestions?

I use a peggy for the speed of getting around stations looking for missions.

As shown by the previous two posters, the M5 you use depends on the mission it's to perform. If you're looking to do BBS taxi missions, then the Pegasus is the best choice (although the Osprey isn't the best M6 choice for these missions; too slow). However, if you want your M5 primarily to supply your M6 with jumpdrive energy, then the Harrier is the best choice. Other M5's fall somewhere in between. Personally, one of my favorite combo's is a Dragon/Mandalay pair. I use the Dragon to get where I'm going quickly, then I can undock the Mandalay and capture ships, or get e-cells (Mandalay cargo bays are almost as large as Harriers).
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

If you don't have a jumpdrive enabled TS to act as a supply tender, I recommend the Teladi Harrier, as it has the biggest cargo hold for an M5, and you'll need it to re-supply the M6.

A jumpdrive TS is much more effiecient tho, and then you can take the Peggy for speed runs!

Paranid M5. For ECell refuel issue, take a TS or TL and beam on board. I have a Split TL as Gas Station filled with weapons, equipments and ECell as mobile resupply station.

What about protection?

Post by Graymarauder » Wed, 20. Apr 05, 01:40

Which one would be good for protection? At the minute I have an Disco, working my way to the harrier. However, I am going to need a fighter as well as a transport. Any suggestions?

If you want a fighter M5 (nearly a contradiction in itself) take the pirates Mandalay. It has pretty good weapons and the second largest cargo bay. It comes closest to a fighter.

If you want the M5 for assassination missions then there is only one ship, the peggy, you can find missions very quick and also fly to the Osprey quick. You can jump to Home of Light if you need energy cells.
When there are no more games it is time for music.

Two suggestions

Pegasus for your m5.
Keep a TS on standby with a jump drive, keep a transporter on your M6. Any TS will do since it is simply to supply you with e-cells if you can't make the jump to Home Of Light,

(Terracorp HQ sells e-cells)

I personally use the Hercules. Better value for the credits.

I'm partial to captured Xenon Ns, as they're fast, have a pretty good cargo bay, and can take good shields. They're quick enough that you can jump in it for a quick jaunt to nearby stations or even some ferry missions, but they can bring back a few jumps' worth of e-cells.

But for out of sector M6s, I just buy them a Harrier, since I'm not the one flying such a slow M5...

The N is great in combat! for an m5. twin GIREs and a 5mw shield do alright. good speed and great turning too. I prefer the peggy though, you wont need an m5 to escort your m6, and the easiest way to stock up on ecells, especially for an osprey with its ginormous cargo bay, is to raid one of your ecell selling ships, if you have any SPPs. Just use a transporter device.

So? What do you guys and gals think?

Post by Graymarauder » Thu, 21. Apr 05, 00:55

No to the Disco. Ok to the Harrier, and the Mandalay. The M-6 could be an Osprey, or a Dragon. With a transport to get e-cells. Alright, guess I have to try this one.
