Starship Troopers

i know this has been mentioned before, but i just saw starship troopers, and the battleships in that film are exactly the same as the argon titan, its almost ridiculous how similar they are...

did ego put the titans that way as a tribute to ST, or are they supposed to be 'original' designs....

I thought the same, was on ch5 or something on my tv a sec ago...you know when you play X2 too much when you relate to things like that....but I gotta say you're right :P

they are very simmilar, not identical, but VERY simmilar.

i think thats cool.

i may name my next Titan "Roger Young" in tribute to the ship in the film.

Also the mamoth looks a bit like the dropship!!

And at the end of ST you see the "NEW" Ship which is a bit like the paranid battleship!

sadly, starship troopers was a flop coz it was released near the same time as titanic.

sad SAD shame....

Definatly a modern Sci Fi Classic....

there is a second starship troopers coming out but it's straight to video....without any big name people in it

this i think is sacrilige as the movie was a classic just as

space above and beyond was upon the TV but both were never repeated with sequels due to the inherant failings of the pressures upon the american film and TV industry's

The movie was soso. The BOOK was great. The movie missed so much and glossed over so much it was just insulting.

I HOPE you have all read the book... otherwise I'll send a brainbug after you.

the book is a LOT different than the film.
(i heard theres multiple books, i just read 1)

Space above & beyond.....

the pilot episode was good, the last episode was good, all the rest inbetween was crap.

Crusade (a spin off of babylon 5 was never continued past a 2nd series either)

Ok, they used CGI to make the bugs. "Bugs, Mr. Rico, millions of 'em!" So whereinhell was the freaking power armor??? And the bugs have guns,ok? And MI drops in individual ablative shelled eggs with one guy in power armor in each one. From orbit. By the hundreds. And they can jump like you wouldn't believe. And they carry some fun weapons. "I am a 30 second bomb. I am a 30 second bomb. 29. 28. 27...." And every trooper carries _4_ nuclear tipped missiles. And a plasma flamer that can cut through concrete walls.

DON'T F@&$ WITH THE MI!!!

Wait until Starship Troopers 2 released this year.

Paul Verhoven isnt directing this but he is producer, the direction will be done by Phil Tippett the 'bug effects man'

The plot is several years after the bug war, skirmishes are still raging and an expeditionary force finds a planet with new bugs on it even deadlier than before and with a brain bug that can control minds of humans so the soldiers dont know who of them are on their side.

apparently the new film is a bridge between the CGI series and the first film so expect rock on hardware in this.
