Most peeps like using TL's as carriers instead of M1's or M2's??

I can see the price diffrence...and benefits of doing so...but, aren't
TL's real purpose to transfer Stations and Cargo?

Just curious....kinda "exploiting the game mechanics" but what else is new
around here.....can we say "SETA overnight"

Well maybe its just me :p but my ultimate goal in X2 is to have one of the top M1s fully decked out with a mixed complement of M3s-5s and some miscellaneous traders. I don't know how much this would cost though! :o

A TL is simply more flexible than a carrier. A Split Elephant will carry 30 ships (the Teladi Condor carrier can only carry 60!), is a lot faster than any carrier, has a much bigger cargo bay, and can be used to place factories--none of which a carrier can do. The only advantage the carrier has over the Elephant is that it carries 6 PPCs instead of the 2 HEPTs the Elephant has, but let's face it, if you're aiming to kill things with turrets you should be thinking along the lines of an M2 anyway.

Yes, I love the Argon stuff.....I bought a Buzzard, just because the Julian had one in the beggining and wanted to check it out....Not a bad fighter....

pjknibbs --- Yeah I understand that....just seems kinda...cheap (not credits obviously)

My goal is to have 5 war fleets

1 carrier full of M3s and M5s of the same race (So Novas and Discos in a Titan or something)

That'll be sweet... then release them on the universe! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Yeah was checking out M5's and seems the Teladi M5 is the best and easest to get....Pirate M5's would be nice...but caputing them in a NOVA...hehe yeah...shoot shoot..bang...oops :)

i don't like most of the argon stuff its to much like the USA my fave ship kinda thing have to be teladi there sooooo british

In some ways a fleet of Elephants would be significantly better than a single carrier for the same sort of cost: more flexibility for deployment, multiple docking bays to launch fighters from (if they're all in the same sector) & potential to coordinate an attack from multiple vectors (if each TL arrives in sector through a different jumpgate).

I'll continue side tracked, as per looks of Titan. Diddo saw "Starship Troopers" from telly again, not a great brainer as per movie but when I saw those destroyers flying....Just thought, god damned, from where the heck Verhoeven did get his preordered X2 so early....;)

Fleet of Transports show up off your coast or a Fleet of Warships and Trasports showing up off your coast....

Which would be more impressive?

I get the jist though...money wise...TL fleet is cheaper....

This is the "why" i really love this game...we are free to do whatever we please....our money to spend... :D

I wouldn't say using TLs as mobile bases of operation is anything 'exploitive' of game mechanics. I've always seen the TL's 'Real Purpose' is that of being a capitol sized ship for traders instead of one for military. Most of us are traders first.

The fact that TLs are just as suitable as M1s in combat situations is really a fault of:

1. The M1s being not much more useful at combat than the TLs
2. The fact that very few current computers are capable of taking advantage of the Carriers being able to launch 100 or so fighters at once.

TLs don't step on the M2's toes at all because of the latter's far superior firepower and tiny hangars. M6s do a far better job of putting the M2s out of work.
