Starting a new game, Ive discovered a new hidden container, but it is only in the game before the arrive.

If you carefully search around the Ore Belt sector in the asteroid field about 70km north of the north gate, you will find an exceptionally large hollow asteroid. If you slowly and carefully fly through, your scanner will eventually find a hidden container. If you pick it up, you get 0 new cargo, but a random amount of credits. Ive tried it 4 times now (using salvage insurance and reloading the game) and Ive gotten amounts between 153,258 & 736,932 Cr.

In an older game, i searched the same spot but the container wasnt there, so Im pretty sure this only works before the

Only problem is the asteroid field in Ore Belt ends approximately 45 km north of the North Gate.

I tried a new game to check this out and there' no "mystery asteroid" sitting out at 70 km N of the North Gate.

Just when you think you've tried just about everything. That gives me a whole new reason to dawdle in the asteroid fields now. Heh, hidden duckets amongst the rocks. Aye, buried treasure. Thanks for the info TE.

All I can seem to find is the pirate base. Where in relation to the pirate base is the asteroid? I've been searching forever now and can't find it. Please be as specific as possible.

There is a dark planet about 1700 km from the north gate.
If you really found such an asteroid I suggest that you
1: target it
2: go to the sector map and post the coordinates that will appear in that sector map.

that would spoil the fun of going out there and finding it!

There are lots of hollow asteroids...they're tricky to mine (I know the secret), but I've never found anything in them - apart from one that had nebula gas swirling in it making it VERY difficult to fly into without crashing!

This sounds fun.

I love it when someone finds something new. I bet Ego have a sweepstake going for what's going to be the last thing found!

On this is there a way to move your sector map? I can only see what is going on between the gates.

BTW I wouldn't mind slightly more precise directions. Maybe not the co-ordinates but whether or not to is due North or tukced off to one of the sides.

No I am not lazy just in a rush to get back to where I was before my game got "destroyed".

North and slightly to the west. The asteroid is out on its own. I pegged the gate at 70km from the asteroid by selecting the gate from the sector map after I collected the crate. It looks like any other cargo crate.
