Personally I think it's less arbitrary than Xmas and Easter, which is why I go for them. I almost missed that it was the equinox so thanks 7ate. :-)

As to the bug - yes your explanation does make sense, but it did seem rather anomylous. Especially with the buying of unknown objects. :-)

I'll see how 0.9.1 works. Thanks.

My Latest Batch of Explorers have just been murdered......Let me explain.

I am running a plot game with xtm and a bundle of other scripts including Race Response Fleets, and the surviving 3 i had out of the 5 i started this morning with 0.9.1 just got caught in Paranid space even though they had Paranid set as enemy they still seem to wander almost halfway into a sector before they realise its full of enemy...

the highest level did an about turn back the way he came but was caught by a Nemesis MkIII not pretty when he was in a Buster L another tried running through the sector and was killed in the next sector over, and i havent managed to find the log book message for the last one, I need to get some more cash up before i can try another set, but im thinking of waiting till ive finished the original plotline before i send any more out to explore, :roll:

and most of the time (in XTM) that enemy is so vastly overpowering them theyre not having a chance to get away. not one has managed to successfully survive combat yet mind you i personally went and destroyed the Khaak corvette that was responsible for several losses earlier...

The way im Going through these Explorers in going to have to drop the prices on my space fuel/weed complexes, to get more to the point of despair so they will sign up and go explore for me :twisted: there will be more :D however my first idea wasnt successful, a group of maxxed fighters on defending my highest level didnt work, nor did transferring one to any of the other goner craft. so next one is get a ranger and escort that, and i still have a few ideas to try

yes theyve done thyere job, opened up 95% or so of the universe for me but i would like to get at least one to 24....who knows maybe at lvl 25 they get a random jump that takes them far out of the known area.....who knows Maybe one was/is called Kyle Brennan (think about it Quantum Paradox)

He He :twisted: :lol:

*Edit*

Just had a thought, it had been running around banging on the inside of my head demanding attention, and i finally realised what it was trying to tell me :o
Player owned M4, M5, and Goner Ships may hire a pilot by choosing "Start Universe Explorer..." from the navigation commands. The ship must be equipped with Explorer Software from the official bonus pack.
I point here at the Goner Ships......

Do you mean just the Rangers that are available in Vanilla? As if you playing XTM, or have played XTM then you might have come across the other Goner ships, the Truelight Seeker, the Shiloh, are the ones i think of the top of my head. however the game classes them as an M6 and a TS respectively, and Yes i did try buying a Truelight Seeker and trying to transfer my highest level explorer into it, and no it didnt work :roll: so possibly a little clarification of that quote from the start or edit it to say Goner Ranger, otherwise my dream which has just come to mind is a Goner Reject Level 1 Universe Explorer being let loose to explore the universe in the Goner Aran :twisted: i think that would give him good survivability :lol: and no im not being serious, and i hope you werent drinking at that point while reading the post.

Keep up the good work

@russbo

Name me an alternative and I will toss up a mirror for you (if it works). Some of the US save file sites just don't like me trying to do things from Japan :headbang: .

@Pogi

It was that or make you pay a salary for them, I like this way as it adds a little flavor to the universe :D. Don't worry though, they have less and less chance to get their fix as they level and eventually break the habit by level 15.

@darnthing

I just like it since I don't have to work as it is considered to be an actual holiday :).

@Legonnaire

*shudder* Race response fleets and XTM make a lethal combination against scouts, I play with RRF in my 'real' game (that does not have the script editor enabled...since I know how to use it too much :p) and scouts just seem to like wandering into race war sectors and dying.

Hmmm...the enemy check failure for paranid space does not seem right, I will look into that tonight. Perhaps I misplaced a retreat check.

As for level 24, I have only ever had one get there due to the nasty requirements needed for that level. Check the special requirements spoiler section in the first post if you want to understand why. Level 23 is fairly easy to get though :)

Goner Aran... :shock:
*cleans green tea off monitor* :lol:
Well, if the Aran was classed in the editor as a 'Goner Ship' (which is a special class like M3, M2, etc) it would work :lol: . Your right in the clarification though, I will change that.

Alright, I have mirrored the files for you at:
http://www.mediafire.com/?clprxwd7vmf

I will also use mediafire as a standard mirror for future updates for you and others that don't like savefile :)

We would love savefile if it worked.

Seems like it is just a portal for advertisements. I have been trying for two days to download the file...

Thanks!

Been testing this for about six hours today...Like it alot..I think I found a bug though...Followed my guy around one sector away all day, watching his behavour and his orders... I noticed that when he got to level 7, he dropped into a boron trading station with the order to "buy nav sats"...I checked the station before he entered and there were three available..I thought, " ok here we go"...he entered the station, my money went somewhere, but the three nav sats did not enter his cargo bay...When he exited the station, his order was to "fly thru a gate"....On another note though, he has "not once" made a pitstop for fuel/weed..Maybe because I am working him in the southern paranid/boron sectors now...I don't miss that either.. :D ...From what I have noticed, he may be buying stuff and not using it :? ..A money pit of sort that may need to be looked at......Okies..Back to see if I can get him to level 8 and beyond

Hrmmmm...I found a pair of nasty bugs myself.

The first happens in sectors that stations are not foes, but you do not have permission to land. The attack response goes into a loop and keeps sending you messages. Easy fix there.

The second I have not had time to track down completely and has to do with the new movement system. It looks like I will have to make my own version of the astar routine for explorer use or go back to using the built-in egosoft one ><.

I've also put in basic satellite options using the artificial life menu and tested them. I will continue working on the second problem and make a release sometime soon.

Very nice in concept... maybe Ill open up x3 again one day and try it out.

And for those of you who find that savefile has a problem with advertisements... remember, that is how they make their money. To get around it, go to http://adblockplus.org/en/ and install the addon. I saw a total of 0 adverts while i was there downloading it.

Found something else a little weird...I have my global set to pirates enemies, yet he still docks at pirate stations searching for weed/fuel, even with them surrounded by red hot LT's!...Also, it does not seem to matter what my global friend/foe is, he still goes right into pirate sectors...I was assuming you had a library done to avoid this?....All in all I like this script set, but it is best to monitor him a lot..Using Boron Mako Raider..Working real nice

Suggestion/Question....Is there any way to put in a scripted player owned "do not enter nav beacon" close to a gate of choice that the player can decide to block him from entering when he locates it?...Cheers

I know there is a f/f problem right now and I am trying to track it down when I have time. Unfortunately, I got called in to work this weekend so it may take a little time.

I think I have finally narrowed down the f/f bug and fixed it. Version 0.9.2 is posted for download and includes:

1. The f/f fix...I hope ><
2. Simple satellite options in your AL menu, with voice notifications (because I could! :D )
3. A bunch of minor fixes to various bits that I have been applying over the past 4 days, mostly to the attack response and movement systems :roll:
4. Oh, and for those concerned about money I have reduced the drug purchase rate a little and made it a function of level instead of a static set of values. For the mathematically inclined the new equation is 1 in 21 + (rank * 7). This means much less purchases that before at lower levels and slightly more in the middle-high levels. Overall less though.

As usual please post any bugs! ...as I am sure there are some left :oops:

Really great script, very functional, realistic, and makes exploring those nebula sectors less painful.

readtext bug

Post by TheGunslinger77 » Mon, 24. Mar 08, 23:51

hi there,
i am running an italian version of X3,
modded with the latest XTM.

I was hoping to use this script to mantain a satellite
net in my galaxy, but when i puchase the Explorer software
and try to start the script... all i have is a readtext line.
Since there is just one i presume that it means start explorer pilot.
The script in fact starts, but then, every message i get from it is another read text string

am i the only one with this prob?

i suspect it is due to the language files from having 'heard' similar things in different threads, but i dont know for definate

Yes it is the language file, this script is currently running with only an English language file which is 448791.xml in your 'x3\t\' folder. If you copy the file and change the 44 part to whatever language code is Italian (I think it is 39) it will show the English in the Italian x3. Of course, if you also feel like translating it I will put your Italian translation into future script downloads :D .

Hmmm...I just noticed that I cannot change the poll once I made it...bleh :shock:

oh? and what were you planning on changing it to?

on a slightly different note , just had windows throw a major strop, ive had to re-install over the top, and and currently rescuing my previous copy of my documents, after which im probably gonna have to format and re-install, so if i dont post anything here for a while its probably cos the pc's broke

Well, since the satellite options are in the new one the poll is not that necessary anymore. Was going to drop the common 'How useful is this script' poll in there :p . Good luck on the cpu rebuild, I took a day and rebuilt mine a month ago to clear out all the junk from the last couple years.
