Aaaargghhh.... eyes... burning.....

Post by shifty_powers » Sat, 23. Jun 07, 20:59

So my girlfriend and i decided to take her three year old sister, (adn at 27, it's odd to think she could one day be my sister in law  ), to see shrek III. (Which i thought was mightily disappointing compared to the first tow, but thats besides the point).

And then, during the trailers, i had the joy of seeing this.

Words fail me. I now want to gouge my eyes out with a rusty spoon. Seriously, maybe i sound like an old man, but this represents everything i really, really dislike about american culture. Everything from, like, oh my god, to the crass commercialisation of our youth.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not some blind anti-american fanatic. Any country that gave us stuff like family guy, the simpsons and babylon 5 has a lot going for it.

But dear god, would they stop the awful, awful dross such as this.....

The American Bratz film might have 4real at the end, but it was a New Zealand couple that wanted to call their kid that! :p

Just hope you don't end up on a long-haul flight with only one channel. If that came up I'd be sorely tempted to test an improvised parachute.

In defence of our American cousins, I feel I should point out that Spiceworld: The Movie was not an American film, so when it comes to dross, we're just as capable of producing it as they are!

I can't wait to NOT see this movie. :headbang:

What was the production company thinking when they threw their money away? We may never know...

I've just finished watching 'The Breakfast Club' (which was awesome!) and then I see this. If you'll excuse me I'm going off to do cruel and unusual things to the people who let this happen.

Oh God, I'm having to watch Coronation Farm & Emmerdale street I find THAT.AAAaaaaaaaaaaarrgghhhhhhh!!!! Excuse me (sounds of vomitting)!

Spiceworld, The Power Rangers movie & NOW BRATZ.!!!! :headbang:

To Doll manufacturers out there , NO! Nomore dolls, i.e. nomore crap cartoon series , followed by even worse live action movies.

Instead of wasting the money on this, they could have given it me or any one of you. WE could have spent it better. On booze, h@@@ers, cars etc.

Hell even resurrecting El Dorado, (for those who don't know the worst TV show in Europe for the last 30 years.), would have been a better use than BRATZ the movie!!!

The only thing that makes my homeland stand out is that we're producing products which make 6-7 year olds pull "that face" that is usually only reserved for teenagers - y'know, the one you want to smack off them.

You seem to be having an intresting obssesion with the Spice Girls.

Anything you wanna tell us? :P

Anyway, in responce to the OP:

You know, it takes great efford to make a bad movie too. Dont think the creators expect much too, I mean imagine the shooting team:

Director: Allright, give me the scene again but with zoom 6

Actor 1: Yeah...whatever

Actor 2: Was, was he talking to US?

Actor 3: Can I get new shoes or somthing, cause these are like tottaly last year...ahh

Actor 4: You know, if you spell us its like the same as U.S, which is tottaly like the United States.

That movie really reminds me of middle school...a lot. It also looks like Mean Girls, but without the funny innuendo and based in...a school courtyard. Yeah... Mr. 9mm is ready to say hello to the producer.

Two posts relating to them in a week is an obsession in your book? Strange. (And did it never occur to you that the fact someone had posted earlier in the week about the Spices might have caused me to make the connection with Spiceworld anyway?).

Someone dissed the Power Rangers

Simpson? Familly Guy???????????????????

I've always thought stupid shows like this do much to illustrate the averagely lower IQ of our Yanky cousins. The fact that there shows keep re-spawning year after year, while almost anything requiring more than a single braincell to comprehend, really says a lot (and has a lot to do with why I rarely let myself get hooked on anything new which comes out of the US) - if it isn't aimed at the simpletons it rarely lasts more than a season or two.

Don't get me wrong - am not saying that all Yanks are stupid. Just a sizeable percentage of the population
Ooops!!

Sorry no, just no.

Simpsons may be past it now but Family Guy is superb, and it is intelligent humour as well as stupid humour and it's hilarious.
