VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE with blue screen(BSOD) - Resolved by clean driver update.

Hi gang, bit of a bizarre one here. I am getting the above problem when I play graphicly intense games that used to run fine.
All drivers are up to date and I can browse fine and play games like desktop dungeons no problem but not games like Train sim world 4 or Dakar free on epic.
TSW4 and 3 have ran flawlessly for some time and my only new game is Dakar, and again its ran for a few days before the problem occurred.
Any idea how to fix or whats going on?

Cheers in advance

This is a longshot but a couple years ago I had issues, where the update to my remote work connection application for my home-office work was conflicting with GPU performance in some games (and some not).
I saw no fix for that, other than uninstalling that application and after restart games started to working normally again.

If youre' sure your hardwares is OK (e.g. no overheating, or old/dammaged) and drivers are OK, then the only possibility would be that there might be some 3rd party applications.
Check what have you installed/updated around the time you started to notice the problems.

Alternatively, if you're using a PC/laptop with two GPUs (integrated and normal GPU), check if the game is running with normal GPU (intergated one is low-performance that shouldn't run modern games).

Dakar was the last thing to be installed.

Posting a link to a recent DxDiag report might give us some clues in the drivers or error reports.

Its too big to post in its entirety what bits of the xdiag are relevant?

Find a reputable free public fileshare site and upload it there and then post an open public sharing link here. It doesn't matter if it expires after a period, but single-use download or register-to-download links are not a good idea. That's what the Tech Sp reports do for DxDiags and saves, etc.

Thanks, one thing I noted was you using a default generic Microsoft sound driver for your Realtek onboard sound chipset, but that's a minor issue. The graphics driver looks OK but you may wish to do a clean reinstall of it, or even roll back to a slightly older WHQL version just to make sure.

Unfortunately, you haven't enabled Windows Error Reporting and so there's no further clues about the BSOD problems at the end of the DxDiag.

Cheers mate a bit food for thought. I sometimes use a chord mojo for music audio and my monitor speakers for less-than-critical gaming audio. I will look into this

Are you using DDU to remove any driver remnants, if not, then I highly recommend this.

What did you do to lose the BSOD issue but also lose fps? It's rather hard to guess.

 Sorry I used the DDU program and that fixed the bsod
The only odd thing was I couldnt get into safe mode for the removal, but everything looked ok.
Cheers again,

Does the gpu boost to right core and memory clock speeds?

The gpu and cpu usage levels ok? For example at least one goes over 80% usage when playing an intensive game?

Any major performance or game settings get changed?

Cpu clock speeds ok? All memory showing up and at the right speeds?

Temperatures ok?

Can run gpu-z it might have a light gpu test?

Anything going on in task manager? Idle usages ok? Start up programs ok? Hdd stuck at 100% usage?

Mining malware? Run malwarebytes?

Restart vs shutdown the pc and see if that helps. Shutdown = hibernate, restart = fresh start.

There's a few ways to get into safe mode.

To boot into safe mode.

Press the 'Windows key' + R, then type 'msconfig', without the quotes, in the command prompt and then select 'OK'. Select the Boot tab.

Under Boot options, select the Safe boot, minimum.

I might have a workaround for my safe mode lockout but have just noticed a new GPU driver out.
My question is it worth trying with my existing problems?

Good to hear, I would always go for the driver update option.
