Whoever can, please email me your savegames, and specify if they're from linux/windows and if the game had any extensions/mods.
I need them to make sure everything is alright and I don't have to do this ever again (it is an absolute nightmare).

Regarding other bugs don't worry I'm not ignoring them, just not enough time to reply.

You prefer the list of modifications or you rather I zip the complete setup and send it to you via dropbox / drive / etc?

Zip though if it's too much (>= 1gb) I'm afraid I probably won't get to test it.

I'll see what I can do.
Thanks again (for the Linux version :))

Hello,

So did I.
One that is from Linux - no bugs, just the lag. The other is a Win7 savegame.
Both totally vanilla, not even the Bonuspak.

Looks ok and thanks for all the saves;)
I'm praying that everything goes fine, and this whole crazy patching mojo covers most cases.
I'll be out for a few hours now, this time if anything goes wrong don't try to fix it yourself and just contact me directly.

Aww, I can't load any recent savegames after last update
Game crashes with this (logfile via./X3TC_main > crash.log 2>&1 ) : http://pastebin.com/HDFdzX3k

(Any of my saves I've sent you earlier will do for testing, I suppose)

Edit: I've noticed new X3TC_main_resave executable, but it crashes:

Code: Select all

lucius@diana ~/.steam/steam/SteamApps/common/X3 Terran Conflict $ ./X3TC_main_resave
../X3.5/X3/s_linux/sdl2/sio.cpp : main : 1429 : dPStub: atexit (lgp_quit);
../X3.5/X3/s_linux/sdl2/sio.cpp : main : 1434 : dPStub: lgpdata = new LGP(argc, argv, envp);
../X3.5/X3/s_linux/sdl2/sio.cpp : main : 1453 : dPStub: lgpdata->setVersionString(lv);

../X3.5/X3/s_linux/sdl2/sio.cpp : main : 1456 : dPStub: lgpdata->setArchString("i386");
../X3.5/X3/s_linux/sdl2/sio.cpp : main : 1459 : dPStub: if (!lgpdata->Proceed())	P_Leave(0);
Edit: solved

Any chance of looking at the code? Many eyes and all that.

I'm guessing you're not running through steam?
Run ./testandlaunch X3TC_config it'll start a savegame patching procedure.
Don't interrupt that under any circumstances, it'll popup a window a few times and when it's finished you'll get the normal config dialog.

I've tried both running from Steam and from command line, no window popped up at all
./testandlaunch X3TC_config neither does anything

Edit: fixed by deleting savegame_patching_done and savegame_bak_done logs

My Linux saves loaded after the patching. The autosaves were the only ones available at first until I made a new save, quit the game and the older ones were then available when I relaunched the game. Haven't verified if they load on Windows or not though. As far as I can tell it didn't mess anything up for Linux saves.

Edit: Linux saves work on Windows :)

The only real issues I have at the moment are not being able to enter a gate from behind it and Export Statistics causing the ship to self destruct. Other than those issues the game is very stable.

A few problems I just noticed:

1) Patched savegames have had all their dates reset, which is kind of annoying as it's not very easy to tell which one was my latest one. I suppose it's a temporary problem so no big deal.

2) After the first Alt+tab, keystrokes aren't always noticed. E.g. go to main game menu, alt+tab, click x3 in task bar to go back to it, press up and down a few times. Some keystrokes (e.g. sometimes every other one) is ignored. Alt+tab and back again and it works fine again.

3) While figuring out the above, I also noticed Alt+tab sometimes doesn't revert the videomode (but it usually does).

Graphics: open source radeon driver (r600 i think)
OS: Fedora 17
Desktop/WM: KDE/Kwin

Cheers
James

I just want to really show my gratitude for this. These bugs were being reported *over the weekend* and it's Monday and they're fixed.

Can we give Timon a round of applause because I am very thankful!

Good job man/woman/boron!

Great work. Windows savegames now load with linux properly.

Unfortunately I've noticed two problems:

Not really serious. The „load bar“ in the freight menu looks quite interesting. I don't know if it's only at my machine but you can find a screenshot at the dropbox link. Unfortunately at the moment I wasn't able to reproduce it.

Other problem:
Sometimes when I switched to desktop (via alt+tab) and then, after a while, back again, the ship constantly strafes to the left and sinza doesn't work. The fix to just press alt+tab and back again just don't work to fix this.

My system specs are:

Graphics: Nvidia GTX275, driver is from nvidia, version 304.88
OS: Debian (mostly unstable repository), kernel 3.2.0-4-amd64
Desktop: Enlightenment
Scripts/Mods: Cycrows cheat scripts / Hangarmod

I provided a recent savegame, the two files for the hangarmod I'm using (if necessary) and the scrrenshot mentioned above. Hopefully the dropbox link works:

I agree, timon has been on fire nailing down the bugs. Big thanks are in order for the speed and consistency of the updates.
