Don't know if this applies to an existing thread or not, but what about a suggestions/ideas topic? Sort of a think tank that people can express their ideas that might get pursued by the script/mod gurus (or anyone else that may want to take a stab at them).


Two come to mind immediately for me:

Explorer Software MkII

An expansion on the Ego-branded software already in game, in that you can order the equipped ship to just find gates, then fly through them, aiding in exploring/opening new sectors. Map sector and fly through gate are nice, but it'd be nice to automate it. Think of it as a ship just wandering space looking for new gates to go through.

And:

UT Escort:

I'm wondering if this may finally be possible. Looking at the new resupply command (missiles/etc), would it be possible to reconfigure it to resupply ecells and be able to jump with a UT?

I've always thought escorted UTs would be a godsend. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but it looks like there might at least be *some* chance.

Yes, IMO it would be neat if all the requests would be in one heap for anyone willing to tackle them, ... all ideas in one heap for anyone willing to carry them further, ... and all suggestions (but doesn't suggestion imply a more targeted idea that usually relates to existing thread and should go there anyway?)

Naturally, monolithic heap is like a sticky, and nobody sees nor finds gems from it any better than from spurious threads that quickly fall to South.

Maybe if there was a suitable format to them, like a name, and a brief description of what it should do....

Possible to make defend-station-mission ships eject?

Think it could be possible to modify something to allow enemies that attack on the station-defense missions to be able to eject? They seem to act as a race separate from that of the rest of the universe, in that they don't communicate, and they don't eject. They barely even fire back at you. It's like they're there purely for you to blow them up for that mission. Makes it feel unbelievable.

I guess it could make it easy to grab cash if you can cap the ships, but so what? That's consistent with most of the game.

your better off giving feedback in relation to vanilla missions in either XU or X3 TC spoilers and those who have written them may get the info then, also if there is an issue most non script users will agree in the thread and thus bring a possibility of a rework with the next patch.

Hi,

I agree that enemy ships in 'Defend the Station' missions aren't quite as agressive towards the player as they could be, especially the Bombers. I have however been attacked (& killed) in such missions & sometime they are much more agressive than others. I've also had a ship bail on me - fairly early in the game - one of the Bombers no less.

So yes, enemy behaviour in these missions suggests they really are mainly gunning for the station & you're more of an annoyance. Plus bailing is rare but not unheard of.

Terran weapons on commonwealth ships? and vice versa?

Would it be possible to have a couple of bases spawned about the place that handle upgrading of ships to be able to mount Terran weapons on Argon etc ships, and alien weapons on Terran ships? Seems only logical. I see a large trade in buying Terran technology and selling it off around the universe.

It's my opinion that the demand for Terran ships should be a lot higher for all races, especially split.

i was in a unknown sector and found the wreckage of a titan,would it be possible to script in wreckage repair drones to fix these ships so you could claim them,the old one :?

X3R has 2 excellent scripts which can bring to live ship or station wrecks. And for that to happen was necessary 1st to get the list of materials needed (1st script) to reconstruct and 2nd script that used those materials to rebuild.

I believe that we will need to wait until those scripts are adapted to X3TC.

Hello, got a couple of requests, and if this is the wrong place for this I apologize.

I use the High Energy Plasma Thrower, mostly because it rocks my socks. The only problem with using this is when I am doing a defense mission on a station, the area of effect always ends up turning the station against me and soon have a Split M7 yelling at me with lasers. Anywho, there someone out there that could make this better, like making the FF tolerance higher or something.

2nd request is a way for SETA not to be inturupted. Sorry for the spelling. Anywho, I am tired of putting SETA on while flying away to some far off sector, and having SETA turn off everytime I go through a gate or get a stupid scan, any ideas?

I was thinking lately that getting slaves is pretty useless atm. If you could use them on your factories to boost the production it would be really nice, like give 10% boost per slave to factory..and make them die out at times so if you want to keep the bonus you have to supply fresh slaves to it.

Downside would be that if police found out they would blow the factory to smitherees.

No idea if its actually posibble.

Or they could be added to the Marine Repairs script . . . could get those guys working, so long as you have marines to supervise . . .
And after hundreds of years of evolution, the common housefly still doesn't know that the big, solid, clear thing is a window . . .

this idea came to me with the fighter drone. it counts as a ship, but can be stored as a ware. I rekon it would be an awesome addition if ships up to M6 / TP could be stored as a ware too (though only once, as otherwise it would mess up the balancing, just ram any small ship and claim it) so you could transport new ships and sell them (ware type) to a shipyard for a high price. Or you could eject the ship ware and recieve that ship for your own uses. There could aslo be some good missions based on this idea. here are some examples

1. I have just bought a ship at shipyard X, however i am too busy to pick her up: please deliver it to my station at Y

2. please deliver X m5's to the orbital patrol base at X

3. my ship has destroyed after some nut crashed into its docking pan, however the insurance has cleared and i need someone to deliver my new ship to X

and so forth. my question is this: is it physically possible? I do not have the skills to even begin this but if someone would like to accept the challeng it would be appreciated. cheers.

@jokuvaan: The production/consumption rates are defined for wares. Thus, rate of one factory might be difficult to change. (Of course there is Scale, so check how people -- Gazz most likely -- create XXXL Factories.) You could perhaps have a script that occasionally adds/removes wares at a station.


@aquemnun: The conversion between ware and object is probably hardcoded. Check how people have created enhanced Drones.

Drones - or rather the "eject to create a ship" mechanism - are indeed hardcoded.

The Drone ware is maintype 18 and the drone ship is maintype 7 and a different subtype.

There is no apparent link between those 2.

It is possible to store a ship (maintype 7) in a ship's cargo bay but it doesn't display.

Wow, yeah . . . this could get messy and confusing . . . maybe someone could start a "Library" of sorts and catalog the ideas? Might be a good purpose for a wiki, too . . .
