When you say no Silicon Refineries, do you mean no where at all, or just none around the area you are in ?
There should be plenty around.
Also, did you start the game with 0.40/0.41 or is the game from an earlier version?
Starting in an earlier version won't have the map changes, and some of these were fixing some of the mines and Refineries.
Save game compatability between versions will start at the next version 0.50

I have satellites in about 20 sectors and not a single refinery (using Encyclopedia to look). Almost every single factory is starved for wafers.
I am not sure which version I am using, but I started a new game with a clean install both for the patch and guilds.
ANd ofcourse I am making good money out of these, but it feels cheaty and I am worried about the long-term effect on the game.

Small problem.
After latest updates for Guilds and unofficial patch FL will no longer start, either via plugin manager or via Steam.
Have reinstalled plugin manager, verified cache for game, still no luck. TC and AP start via steam with no problem. Plugin manager and Steam allowed through firewalls.
Seems I'm doing or have done something wrong but I don't know what.

what exactly happens when you try to start the game?
it sounds like something might have corrupted somewhere.
You could try to uninstall FL, and delete the addon2 directory. Then reinstall and reinstall the UP and the Mod

Thanks for the reply.
Nothing happens if started via plugin manager. The manager disappears as normal, there's a second of hourglass cursor then nothing else.
Starting through steam opens the plugin manager rather than starting the game.
I'll do the reinstallations and see what happens.

When copying X3 directory for making a separate X3FL with Guilds do I need "addon" folder or only addon2 folder?

It's only necessary to copy your X3 Terran Conflict directory with "addon2" folder. The "addon" folder which is for AP isn't needed.
