[MOD] P. X. D. mod Alpha v0.95

New mod called " P. X. D. " - Parallel X Dimension.

Mod only for English, Russian, German, Spanish and Italian X2 The Threat 1.4 game version.
(In the Italian version all mod texts are in the English language)

Alpha 0.95 version is ready to download.

Version contains:

Replaced all original (vanilla) game ships
Add 81 new ships
Add 32 new ships cockpits
Add 10 new player logos
Add 11 new sector soundtracks
Add 10 new loadscreens
Add 3 new shields - 10 MW Shield, 30 MW Shield, 200 MW Shield
Add 14 new missiles
Add 7 new lasers
Add 10 new stations
Add Player Headquarters
Add to Player Headquarters new station inner scene
Add Argon and Split Equipment dock new station inner scenes
Add 13 defensive platforms
Allow M5, M4, M3 dock to M6
Allow TS, TP dock to M2
Changed factory designs - Trading stations, Equipment Docks, Shipyards, Wharf, for all races.
Changed all races solar power plants designs
Changed Xenon shipyard design and replaced Khaak station to new model
Replaced Pirate Base, Goner Temple, Federal Argon Installation, Pirate Anarchy Port and Terracorp Headquarter stations designs
Changed Fighter Drone design
Changed TS ships cockpits - removed 3 vertical lines from the cockpit centre
Changed jumpdrive cargo class to XL
New ships rebalance
New missiles rebalance
New lasers rebalance
Changed almost all weapon bullets effects
Replaced all planets textures
Changed gate effect and warp tunnel
Changed Main menu scene
Changed sector boxes border designs - add round sector box borders
Changed vanilla asteroid texture
Changed all missiles engine trail effects
Changed ship - M3, M4, M5, TP, TS, M6 engine particle trail effetcs
Changed almost all weapon bullets effects

Add new script - Jumpdrive upgrade MK1
This is software upgrade extension for Jumpdrive. New command is added in to the shipboard computer's command console. New command added possibility to select exit coordinates from the hyperspace.

Changed ships capturing conditions:

If you are on the M5 class ship - you can capturing only M5 class ships
If you are on the M4, TS, TP class ship - you can capturing M5 and M4 class ships
If you are on the M3, M6, TL, M1, M2, M0 class ship - you can capturing M5, M4, M3, TS, TP class ships

Enemy ships sometimes before destroyed, will drop out ship shields or weapons.

whats the difference in ship stats versus design?

It's always good to see, that some guys are working on X2 mods - that's why I'm proud of saying that I'm one of those :D
The design seems interesting - but will there be complete new ships too (without vanilla bodies)?

Unfortunately will not be completely new ships with new bodies, because we are not so clever in moding yet, we use only standard game bodies, because in standard bodies are very easy to change the sizes and textures, but it does not make our mod less interesting than others mods.

We plan that the second mod version will contains: new stations, new wares, new weapons, new rockets and maybe more, but we can not say 100% sure that everything goes as we thought, but we try to creat it all.
Pictures are renders from 3DS MAX, but all ships was tested in the game. Currently all ships pictures will be renders from 3DS MAX, but when the first mod version was completed, then we created all ships screenshots from the game.

To be critical I do not like those ships, they are just like the normal ships with added extras. However it will be interesting to see how you pick up after this comment.

X2 is getting rather old, and an old game with old style mods make you think been there, done that. So yeah, just try and make something new. Me and Shadow know you can do it :wink:

most of our ships are done, but we might rework some.
What we're working at atm is the story line and the remaining ships (and some cool extras ;) )

But this isn't the place to discouss that! :P

Yes, some ships are little modified, we creating new ships and modified standard ships only from standard X2 bodies parts. We modified standard ships to be looks little different from original X2 ships.
Some like our mod, some don't like. X2 are old, but i think that's best space simulator game.

X2 may be old, but I too think it's the best space game. And what makes it even better is the X2 community that has built and is still building mods.

Creating a mod is a lot of work - and it's best if you do the things you like to see in X2. So keep to the things you like to do (or can do - if you don't know how to do it, you can always ask).

Some great mods don't use any totally new designs. There are always people that want other things in a mod than the things you create or want to be in the mod.

Ok, people want to see new designs. This gives you a hint, what people want. But new designs are hard to create. It's much easier to say: "Make new designs".

Using X2 bodies has a great advantage: you get similar designs, easily recognisable.

New designs can mean using old bodies; I guess that's why EGO made those parts so easy to connetc to each other ;)
At least you're re-texturing them, so it's not pure old suff!
For my part I think new stuff is adding a complete new model - I preffer working like that. Maybe the ships wont always look as good as the Vanilla ships do, but that's only because they don't have the same caracteristic look. If I like my model I use it and maybe someone else likes it too. :)
So don't mind if someone sais "crap, do us a favoure and stop!" - I would never do that, because I know, someone (without saying it) likes it ;)

I can't argue with that one Chris.

I did not mean X2 is old and boring. What I ment was, yes it is the community that has kept this alive but, we are at a peak where the numbers of great modders have started to fall. This is where we need younger level of modders to come onto the scene.

From memory there are three mods in construction that I know of they are;
Top Gun
Pandora
and this

Do not get me wrong, I would never say someones work is 'crap' either. You can model and skin all I know how to do is basic skinning therefore, your skill surpasses mine easily. This mod is still young and as a X2 player I would like to see this guided in a direction that everyone enjoys it.

So let's talk superweapons :P

Are we going to go up against something that can totally Noobify all our ships? I always liked the idea of Khaak or Xenon creating a fleet killer which led to an epic battle which required me to mass a huge fleet while having to pay for this myself. Many people do not play without cheats so something like this would mean more play time.

The best advice I think is for everyone to mention what they like to see best in mods, this gives you an idea on how you can balance out your mod for everyones needs and especially your own.

I am actually working on a mod for Rome: Total War and I am so close to giving up on it as it is not going the way I planned it. So make sure you have some of your own needs and please, please don't give up.

I think we have asked too, but noone seems interested. So if you don't get any feedback too, just read the threads that are arround (that's what we're doin). So you can get a feeling of what people like / dislike. (the only thing is they will still have to wait :P )
Don't you think too that it's strange that noone wants to post in "open-mod-Threads" what they want? It's just... I've seen that later when a Version of the mod comes out that there are requests about "I want..." that never were mentioned before :? :D
