Part 12

Karrack had arrived at the anarchy port over four tazuras ago putting into place the details necessary for the plan to go ahead smoothly. As head of the Vampire clan he was one of the more powerful pirate leaders, which only meant that he had to be more vigilant towards treachery.

The Anarchy port was unique in that it was the only place in space where various pirate clans could occupy the same space with out resorting to laser fire. It was not owned by any one clan but was sort of like neutral ground protected by all major clans and safe haven for any pirate.
It was where any meetings or call for meetings between more then 3 pirate clans took place. The station was practically a fortress with every known kind of security measures in place and anti surveillance equipment available.

“Split say we give them death! Not offer,” hissed Sazix’st the head of the Werewolve clan.

Karrack narrowed his eyes as he looked at the Split sitting at one end of the square table, “You are a fool Sazix’st, if all the other pirate clans believe we are cheating them they will combine to destroy us, we do not have the resources to fight every single clan.”

Sazix’st glared pure venom at Karrack, “Watch what you say human or I shall tear your heart out of your puny body,”

“You were unable to do it the first time scarface,” retorted Karrack showing his utter contempt for his former second in command and adding insult by using that particular nickname, the source of which Karrack was responsible for.
Sazix’st jumped up angrily and reached for his dual bladed knife but was held back by Marista, the head of the Bloody fang clan. A powerfully built human woman who was reputed to have undergone dangerous genetic manipulations to make her more then she seemed.

“Calm down Sazix’st, this venture is too big for both of you to jeopardize it due to your past enmity. In this instance Karrack is right we need to invite in all the more significant clans otherwise we risk having them join to destroy us,” said Marista pulling Sazix’st back into his chair.

“What of the two teladi, what do they gain out of this? It is they who have provided the technical expertise and the equipment and also the extra funds,” rumbled the voice of the huge Paranid sitting on the left of Karrack.

Larmanksatland was the head of the Red Eye clan and as dangerous as the other two; he was a schemer and always looking for ways to increase his power. He spoke in a soft rumble, “I do not trust them, and they are unknowns, their agenda is unknown, their loyalty is unknown…”

“They are the ones who provided the knowledge and the equipment required for our venture to work. They are the ones who have provided us with the ARI software which has allowed us to stay ahead of the sector and galactic police and acquire the information we need regarding our competitors,” Karrack responded.
“Let us concentrate on who of the various clans we need to bring in on this venture to ensure success, then we can deal with other issues.”

Marista said, “The meeting has been set for 2 tazuras time, we but need to invite those heads we deem necessary. Sazix’st will be putting on a demonstration for our ‘guests’ using the ARI software to help them understand how we have the knowledge we have. Karrack will be presenting the proposal and Larmanksatland the tactical plan while myself will be watching our guests.”

Karrack turned to Sazix’st and said, “I hear you executed your team of hackers but one of them escaped, a Boron female? I hope this lapse of security has been cleared up?”

“She will be eliminated if she is not already space dust,” replied Sazixt’st gritting his teeth and glaring murder at Karrack, “I have dispatched mercenaries and a shadow assassin if they should fail.”

“Has the Boron princess been ‘made the offer’?” cut in Marista.

“Our emissaries have made contact and are taking care of things. She is easily persuaded and will not be a problem. Her habit for the more intoxicating luxuries makes her the ideal target,” answered Karrack still looking at Sazixt'st.

“Good, then everything is going to plan. We just need our two teladi friends to deliver their side and it should be clear sailing to complete control of the trading lanes,” said Marista her eyes gleaming a light reddish hue.

Very good read. Now it seems the pirates do not yet realise that things have gone terribly wrong for them. Well, the shadow is another ace in their sleeve. Still, the two Teladi had to make a run, did they ever finish to deliver all goods?

Looking forward to the next installment.
