Xai Corporation Fleet Support Ship

Fleet Support Ship Software from Xai Corporation
Updated: 22/7/05

Download: Signature Candidate version (2.3) [Updated] | Advanced Features version (1.3)
Both versions can also be downloaded at Research Station Beta

There are two versions of this script now:
  1. The Advanced Features version is the older version and supports the Artificial Pilots and sector blacklisting provided by the Advanced Navigation Libraries
  2. The Signature candidate was rewritten to meet the requirements of Egosoft's signing process. That's not to say that it will be signed, just that it has been prepared for concideration IF Egosoft ever decide to sign any more scripts.
Any comments or suggestions welcome.

The Commands:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
1: Resupply ship.
  - This command will cause the scout to fetch goods and transfer them to the target ship.
   Specifying a greater quantity than the scout can hold in it's cargobay will cause it to 
   repeat the journey until the required amount has been delivered. Software upgrades can 
   also be delivered.
  = 3 Arguments: ware to fetch; quantity; target ship

2: Resupply group.
  - same as Resupply ship, but will supply every ship in the fleet, if possible

3: Drop Freight.
  - This command will drop freight at a specified point. 
  - If a navigation satellite is selected then it will start dropping satellites in other 
   sectors in the same position, buying more sats if needed
  - If a Squash mine is selected then it will start laying a 2x2x2 grid of Squash mines 
   2km apart, buying more if needed, and then calling you to have them activated.
  - If a fighter drone is selected a random number of fighters will be launched.
  = 1 argument: sector position

4: Retrieve Deployed Items
  - This command will retrive deployed items such as lasertowers, squash mines, satellites and drones
  - will command any fighter drones in scanner range to STAY, then pick them up if the 
   ship has enough cargobay space.
  - will pick up multiple items within 10km range of the inital target.

Nice, very nice, have you enabled it for the Goner ships yet? I'm sick of editing every new version to work with my (LEGALLY BOUGHT!) M2 tenders.

I don't know if you're taking any suggestions at this stage, but it would be helpful if you could tell a ship to supply another with an upgrade, and if the upgrade is already on-board it delivers the one it has rather than say it has no room. I have a ship pre-stocked with all upgrades for emergency deliveries :D it can then go find a replacement at its own leasure.

Another suggestion, but a bit more complicated would be to have the ship check to see if it has a transporter AND wingmen/followers with available cargo space it can also use (an idea taken from the auto mining script that I've installed but not had a chance to test).

Would also be nice if it would use the Xai jump command software.

Is there any reason why you excluded M4s from using the software? They're not particularly good in combat, so it would give them a useful purpose to deliver goods that don't require a whole freighter, and allows for better resuply of an M2 without requiring a freighter and a transporter device to deliver a few missiles. I really don't like M2s dependance on supply vehicles, it's a military logistics disaster!

I seem to be in the mood for suggestions today, I've just PMd Kailric with enough to give him a head-ache :lol:

previous versions did that. Guess I broke something :roll:

Probably too complicated for this script. Maybe if I get bored

It will not fetch it's own energy but if it's got a JD and enough energy it should jump if the destination is more than a couple sectors away.

Don't really have a good answer for this, except that M4's and M3's are combat craft not supply craft.
I'll admit there have been times when I would have prefered to be able to use M4's as supply craft but at the end of the day, I don't want to make it too easy for people.

Think along the lines of realism. Would all of the boron, argon, split, paranid, teladi (well maybe not the teladi with their harrier) suffer the same problem with their M2s? Remember also that the transporter device is only available at the goner temple, so what do they do? It's no good even sending a freighter (along with a few escort fighters, it is the military) because they can't transfer the goods. Besides, why send a freighter when the cargo hold of the M4 escorts is big enough? I can't imagine they'd send their front-line M3s (and the Paranid M3 would be no good anyway) to ferry goods, so the logical choice for general military supply is the second line fighter: the M4. The M5's cargo is too small and would need twice as many ships, and the M2s don't have a surplus of landing bays...

Is this script made to work with M6 corvettes as well as M1/M2's?

Also, I seem to be having issues with it. When I buy the upgrade and go to the command menu, the 'resupply ship' options are both greyed out. Is this something I'm doing wrong on my end or what? I've tried it on an M5 and a TS class ship and the same thing happens for both. Any suggestions?

It uses the transporter device. The commands are grey unless it's got one.

Am I doing something wrong....

I have installed into ...\Scripts and ...\t but doesn't list at the Goner as suggested.

Am running 1.4 with AL and Trade MK3 updates (but I don't think that will matter)..

Please help....trying to supply my fleet with energy takes soooo much time and all those ships just waiting to be capped are flying by.... :x

Have you unlocked the script editor by typing "Thereshallbewings" while you are in space?

Wow, that's a quick response....

Nope.....didn't know I had to, but then, this is the first (unsigned) script I've loaded...Only done the AL and Trade MK3

Anyway, I've just tried and the game sort of paused for a second after i typed it in, so I guess something happened, then carried on and went straight to the G.T. but still only shows the standard 4 items on the trade menu.

Does the ship matter, i've tried in and M3 and M5 but same...

It sounds like it's worked. The script that installs the stuff only auto runs when you load the game, so unlock the script editor (as you have) save the game then reload. The device should then be available at the GT

You have to register withthere site before you are able to download.

As for this script i sure hope egosoft get this one signed as well, i been waiting for commands like these to command large fleets. Does anyone know if they are gonna signed this one, or something similar to give the player more advanced option to command large fleets of fighters ???

Yep, The bar at the top (were it says Microsoft Internet Explorer) Changes to Xai Corp research station alpha, but the page wont finish loading (I left it for 30 mins before) is there any pop ups or scripts running that my firewall wont like.
