If your game has CTDs while playing then submit a request for advice and assistance on the Egosoft Technical and Support Forum for the relevant game. (For X3TC or X3AP, you must have registered your copy of one of X3TC, X3AP or the SuperBox with these forums to post there.) Please supply all information and the current DxDiag asked for in the first Announcement on that forum.
It would be of additional help if you could also post the relevant error message text (not any large hexcode dumps) for the CTD.
These error messages may be found in Control Panel, System & Maintenance, Adminstrative Tools, View Event Logs (or similar depending on your Operating System and chosen View mode). You can also type eventvwr into the Windows Start Search or Run boxes to get there (click the Windows icon bottom left corner of the desktop, or press keys Windows + R to open a box). Look in Event Viewer(Local) under Critical or Error.
With Vista you can also look under Problem History under System & Maintenance, Problem Reporting. Sometimes MicroSoft will advise about the likely cause if you use this facility to report the problem to them as well.
The most useful information for us is the faulting application and module, and the exception code and offset. An error report as posted may look something similar to this example:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: X3TC.exe
Application Version: 3.2.0.0
Application Timestamp: 4f104040
Fault Module Name: d3dx9_37.dll
Fault Module Version: 9.22.949.2248
Fault Module Timestamp: 47cdef5d
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 0019874b
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
